coffees and
blue violets

Gwyneth watched Kai and Adelyn from the kitchen as the pair flirt with each other, completely oblivious to her presence. It was a quiet Saturday afternoon. The brown haired girl was eating a sandwich on the kitchen island while scrolling through her social media at 2:30 when Kai and Adelyn came in the apartment, carrying their laptops and a few books. They barely greeted her as the pair was too immersed in their conversation to even spare her a glance. Even when Gwyneth gave the two a glass of water each, they didn't stop their conversation to mumble a thanks.

She frowned when Kai whispered something to Adelyn, irritated at the distance of the two. They were practically kissing each other's face from her angle.

The mood in the kitchen was scary that when a person enters the place, they would probably think that it's best to leave already. It was almost the complete opposite of the mood in the living room. No, correction, it is the complete opposite.

If one could even animate the mood in the quaint apartment, the living room would be yellow and orange, filled with sunshine, rainbows, and blooming flowers. Whereas the kitchen would be the dullest shade of gray, decorated with rainy clouds, thunder, and tears.

Gwyneth walked quietly to her room, changing from her shorts to a pair of jeans with old paint splattered on it that she was too lazy to clean. She left her oversized tie dyed shirt on her, wearing her old white nike sneakers with bright pink laces that her close cousin put on. She grabbed her phone, along with her wallet and keys, heading to the door of the apartment.

"I'm going out." Gwyneth said, loud enough for Adelyn to hear but obviously not enough for the blue eyed girl to pay her attention. She rolled her eyes at this, slamming the door on the way to give a dramatic exit.

It was then that Adelyn finally realized, Kai too, that Gwyneth left the place. Her eyes widened slightly at the realization but she probably didn't care enough to follow her best friend out to say a proper goodbye.

"Hi! Welcome to bean there! Oh, Gwyneth! It's you!" Aaliyah's bright voice filled the small cafe when Gwyneth entered the place with three customers. Probably university students too.

Gwyneth only gave a small smile, hugging the taller girl that smells like coffee. When Aaliyah broke the hug, she looked behind the smaller, wondering why she was alone.

"Where's Adelyn?" To that, Gwyneth only sighed in reply, sitting down on a vacant chair facing the counter.

"Back at our place. She's busy on a "project" with her classmate." She said, making air quotations on the word project.

Aaliyah let out a small pout while making Gwyneth's usual drink. She missed her favorite customers and it was weird seeing only one of them. Sure, she should just get used to the fact that they won't always go in pairs like a buy 1 get 1 free item but it was still fun to see the two. Subtly blossoming their love inside the small coffee shop that she owns.

"Well, I guess it can't be helped then. Here," Aaliyah put an iced americano and a freshly baked blueberry muffin in front of Gwyneth's sight. "This should cheer you up." She pat the brown haired girl's head before going back behind the counter.
