I stood in the mirror looking at what I was wearing. Was it to much? "Stop that Holly. Stop trying to impress everyone. You look hot." I said. I had on jeans and boots. A tang top with a flag on it that showed off my tan arms. For when it got cold I had my leather rodeo jacket from this year. My hair was curled and hung down to my hips. My eyes shone bright with the little mascara I wore. Plus i had painted my lips a dark red color. I went downstairs. I grabbed my keys and started out the door. I closed the door behind me and looked up. There sat Hunter. That kid was everywhere I felt like.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm your ride." I let out a laugh.
"Wow your funny." He rolled his eyes at me.
"Keep rolling your eyes maybe you'll find a brain back there."
"Your so funny."
"Thanks. Now if you could go so I can get my truck out that would be appreciated."
"No can do." It was my turn to roll my eyes.
"Keep rolling your eyes you'll find a brain." He said in a high voice.
"Humorous." I said strolling to my truck. I was just about to open it when he slammed his hand on it closing it.
"No can do darlin."
"I'm not your darlin now let me in my truck." He didn't say anything. One moment I was on the ground and the next Hunter had scooped me up like a bag of potatoes.
"You let me go right now!" I yelled pounding on his back.
"No!"
"Why you little..." I was cut off as he pushed me into the truck door. He shut and started around. I tried to open the door. He had child proof it! I was going to strangle him. He got in. I sent him a monstrous look.
"Don't look at me like that."
"I'll look at you how ever I want to." It was a quiet ride to his house. I sat as far away as my seat would allow. My lips were turned into a frown.
"Would ya quit pouting." He said not even looking at me.
"I'm not pouting. I'm planning."
"And what are you planning?"
"How to wreak your reputation."
We got to the house with out any more talking until we got to the house. I watched as Hunter came around and opened my door. "Just a warning if ever put a child lock on my door again I'll kick your ass." I said starting towards the door. I let myself in and walked towards where the music was coming. Once I stepped out the back door my eyes went wide with shock."Was every country music family there?" I asked looking over the crowd. I spotted Jason, Luke, Thomas, Maranda, and Carrie with their spouses which I had planned on them being here. But as I scanned the crowd again I saw Chase Rice, Morgan Wallen, Reba, Luke Combs, Maddie and Tae just to name a few.
"Pretty much." Hunter answered standing beside me. I shoot him a glare as I went down into the crowd. I grabbed a Dr. Pepper that was in a fancy bottle by the way. I felt way out of place here. Everywhere I looked was somebody famous. I found a little spot in the yard that no body had taken over and went into it. I watched over the crowd. There was huge tables filled of food and drinks. Speakers were hung all over the place. There was a dance floor with a stage by it. Further down the yard was plywood layed out to do fireworks off of.
"It's packed." A voice said causing me to jump. "Oops sorry didn't mean to scare ya." Tate's voice said. "Just saw ya all alone over here and thought you might like some company."
"How thoughtful of ya."
"Yes ma'am that's what I do." I laughed.
"Well thanks."
"Your welcome. I know how it is to be surrounded by famous people. It takes a while to get used to it."
"But weren't you born into it?"
"No I wasn't. My dad was Luke's brother. He and my mom died. He took me in."
"Ooo Tate I'm so sorry. I didn't know."
"It's ok don't worry about it." He said smiling at me. I smiled back.
"So Tate you got your self a girl?"
"Not yet. How about you and Hunter?"
"Nope broke up."
"I'm sorry."
"It's good. Let's go get some drinks I'm empty." I said shaking my bottle. He nodded and we started towards the table. The table was filled with so many different bottles and they were just pop. It took me a little to find the pop I wanted.
"Holly! I'm so glad I found you!" Emma said giving me a hug.
"Hi Emma. You sure got your self a party here."
"Why thank you. I'm so sorry about you and Hunter. I didn't know. But since your here come on I want you to meet some people." She took my hand and was leading me away. In a way Emma was like a mother figure to me.
"Hey guys I want you to meet Holly my daughter. Holly this is Luke Combs, Fath and Tim." She keeped saying names but I was still stuck on Holly my daughter. She must have just said it on accident. I mean really me and Hunter broke up. Soon I realized she had stopped talking.
"Hey y'all. Nice to meet you."
"Come on." She said leading me away.
"Hey Emma?" I asked as she lead me to where she wanted.
"Yes?"
"You called me you daughter but me and Hunter are broke up." She spun around on her heel to face me.
"Honey family isn't just blood. Every since I've meet you I've thought of you as my daughter. It won't matter if you with my son or not. Ok?"
"Ok." I felt the tears come to my eyes. She grabbed me in a hug. I hugged her back. Me and Tate sat on a blanket watching the fireworks go off. I felt somebody sit beside me.
"Are you enjoying your self?" Hunter asked.
"Yes I am." I keeped looking over at Hunter. In the fireworks light his blue eyes lit up. His lips were turned up in a smile. I really thought I was getting over him but I wasn't. I missed him a lot. But I wasn't going to lay down my guns. I was going to stick with it. I wasn't quieting rodeo or working with my horses.
A/N Happy 4th of July everybody! I am so happy to live in America. I wouldn't change it for the world.
