The next day, Bill was sitting at his desk, fiddling with a pencil, staring  out of the window. He did that a lot when he was bored, and had nothing better to do. While he was thinking about things, he remembered something.

He opened the top drawer of his desk and found  the drawing of Beverly that he had started the month before, at the time when she was his only friend, the only one that agreed with him that they should go back to Neibolt to kill It. He took a red pencil out of his pencil case and carefully finished it by adding shading to her lips and cheeks.

After a while, he placed the pencil down and admired his work. 'I'm going to give this to Bev when she leaves.' he thought, then dropped everything when he realised that he had been sitting there for over an hour and Bev would be leaving soon.

"Sh*t!" he exclaimed, and rushed to get his shoes from beside his bed, pulling them on as he left his house, the drawing safely under his arm.

Beverly ran down the steps of her old apartment, a backpack on her shoulders. She ran towards a car that was parked on the road. Her aunt was loading the last bag into the back of the car.

"Is that everything, Bev?" she asked as she opened the door to the driver's seat.

"Yeah," Bev responded, putting her backpack onto the backseat and getting in the passenger seat beside her aunt.

"Ready to go?"

Bev looked out of the window, down the street, hoping that Bill hadn't forgotten her, hoping he would come bounding around the corner on his bike, Silver. When he didn't come, she turned back to her aunt, tears welling up in her eyes. She thought he had forgotten her - of course he hadn't.

Bill Denbrough cycled as fast as he could towards the car. When she saw him, Bev smiled, and unbuckled her seatbelt.

"Hold on. Can you give me a sec?"

"Sure."

She jumped out of the car and darted over to him.

"I'm so sorry, I c...completely lost track of time. I was g...going to come earlier, but I was f...finishing this..." he explained, out of breath and stuttering. He pulled the drawing out of his pocket and nervously handed it to her, hoping she would like it. She looked down at the picture, then back up at Bill. One tear rolled down her freckled cheek. She paused for a split second, then pulled him into a hug.

"I love it, Bill. Thank you." she whispered into his ear. Bill smiled, holding back tears.

"It's fine. I've been working on it for a while."

"It's amazing." More tears started streaming down her face. "I'm going to miss you so much, and the others."

"I'm going to miss you too, Bev. We all will."

Bev turned and looked back at her aunt, who was waiting patiently for her in the car. "I'd...better go," she said sadly. She didn't want to leave her friends in Derry, but this was her chance to live a better life, without her abusive father.

"Okay, see you soon. Have fun in Portland," Bill sniffed. Bev leaned up and kissed his cheek, before turning and walking back towards the car, holding the drawing to her heart.

"You ready now?" her aunt asked when she sat back in the passenger seat, buckling her seatbelt. Bev nodded, and the engine turned on. They drove off, leaving Bill standing in front of her old apartment, waving. She waved back, and the car turned the corner. They were gone.

Bill took a deep breath, got back on his bike and cycled home, the breeze blowing his tears away as soon as they hit his cheek. He might have been sad, but he had no idea that the next time they saw each other in person, they would be adults, with no real memory of each other.

🎈 The other Losers are more involved in the next part, this was just Bill's tearful goodbye to Beverly 🎈
