It had been almost a month, and there was nothing Bill could do. He was leaving Derry. The Losers had school the day before he was leaving, and they spent every moment they could with him. They walked home from school with Mike, a lot slower than usual.

"Hey, Bill? What time are you leaving tomorrow?" Richie asked.

"About 11 I think. I still need to finish packing."

"So, in 24 hours, you'll be on your way to California," Ben pointed out.

"Don't remind me," Stan snapped. He had been trying not to cry all day. He couldn't imagine how much of a wreck he would be the next day.

There were a few moments of silence, before Eddie looked up and realised they were at his house.

"Sh*t, guys, I've got to go, before my mom sees Richie."

"Hey! What's wrong with me?" Richie seemed offended.

"Nothing, it's just, you know how my mom is, she thinks you're gonna give me a bunch of diseases. I told her I don't hang out with you anymore. She'd kill me if she found out I was lying."

They all said goodbye to Eddie, and Eddie promised Bill that he'd be there when he left. They all would. Richie kissed Eddie's cheek and he wiped it with his sleeve in disgust. He always did that. As the others ran past the house as quickly as they could to make sure Eddie's mother didn't see, Eddie walked up to the front door.

"Mommy, I'm home!" he yelled as he unlocked the door and stepped inside, wiping his feet on the door mat.

"Eddie Bear!" his mom shouted from the living room. "Come here, I have to talk to you about something!"

'Sh*t. Did she see Richie? She doesn't seem too mad...it could be an act, though. Oh, just shut up and go over to her, Eds!'

Eddie placed his backpack next to the staircase and walked into the lounge, adjusting the fanny pack around his waist.

"What is it, mommy?"

"I have some news, but I don't think you're going to like it, Eddie Bear."

"W...What is it?"

"Eddie...there's nothing here for us anymore. I've managed to get a job a few states over, and the company have given me an apartment in the city. We're moving out there next week."

"W...what?"

"Eddie, I just think we'd be better off moving out of this town. There's nothing keeping us here. There's nothing keeping you here."

"There's nothing keeping me here?" Eddie raised his voice. "What about my friends? I can't live without them!"

"Are they really your friends, Eddie? Or do you just tolerate them? You never seem too interested when you're with them."

"'Never seem too interested'? Mommy, they're my best friends! Bev left last month, Bill's leaving tomorrow, I can't go! That's not fair!" he sobbed.

It was almost a curse. Everyone seemed to be leaving Derry. First Bev, then Bill, and now Eddie. There were going to be only four Losers left in the town soon.

Eddie didn't listen to his mother's response. He ran up to his bedroom and slammed the door behind him.

"Don't slam your door, Eddie Bear! You might trap your fingers!" Sonia screamed from downstairs.

Eddie slid down the door and buried his face in his knees. He blocked out the sound of his mother yelling and focused on the fact that he had to tell his friends that there would be a third Loser leaving town. They would all be so upset.

As he cried, Eddie's throat began to tighten and close up. He couldn't breathe. Gasping for air, he unzipped his fanny pack and pulled out his inhaler, shaking it and pulling the trigger after he brought it up to his mouth. Phew. He could breathe again. He looked around his bedroom, thinking about how it wouldn't be his for much longer. He looked at his walls. They were painted yellow, and he had a few posters up for films and bands. Somehow, he had convinced his mother to get them for him, even though she kept arguing that he would cut himself. He had multiple photos pinned to his wall above his bed of all the fun times he'd had with his friends over the last couple of months. There was one of Mike and his sheep, one of Richie pulling a weird face, his glasses sitting wonkily on his nose, one of Ben focusing on a book in the library, among many others. Eddie reached up and took one off the wall. That was his favourite photo. It was of everyone, they were all sitting on rocks by the quarry. Well, Eddie, Richie, Ben, Bev, Mike and Stan were sitting on rocks. Bill was just a blur trying to get into the frame before the camera clicked. It was the one time they went with all seven of them - the whole Losers Club.

Eddie decided to tell his friends the next day, but there was one person he wanted to tell first. He sat on his bed and reached for the phone, copying down the number from a post-it note he kept in his drawer. The only reason his mother gave him a phone in his bedroom was so that he could call her if he was sick. She didn't know that he kept his friend's numbers up there too.

He rang the number, and the person picked up. 'How the f*ck am I supposed to tell him?'

🎈Nooo Eddieeeeee! Who did he call...?🎈
