October 4th 1989. Today was the day. The Denbroughs were leaving Derry.
Bill carried a box to the car and placed it into the trunk.
"Is that it, Billy?" his mother asked. Bill nodded, looking down at the ground. When he remembered something else, his eyes shot up and stared at the now almost empty garage.
"Wait!"
He ran inside and grabbed his bike from underneath an old shelf that once had a toolbox sitting on it.
"C..Can't forget S..Silver," he said as he walked the silver bike over to the car. He noticed his mother and father look at each other sympathetically.
"Bill, honey, I'm sorry but it won't fit. You can't bring it, you'll have to leave it here."
'Great. Another thing I have to leave behind.'
Bill sighed and dropped the bike onto the grass.
"Bill!" came a familiar voice from down the street. He turned to his left to see Stan, Ben, Mike, Eddie and Richie sprinting down the road. Seeing his friends, Bill couldn't help but smile.
The next thing he knew, Stan was pulling him into a bone-crushing hug, burying his head into his shoulder. Even though he couldn't see his face, Bill could tell he was crying due to the quiet sobs he heard coming from the boy.
"Hey, come on Stan, don't hog the man," Richie said as he pulled Stan away. "Hey, that rhymes!" he smiled, trying to diffuse the tension of the situation. Bill managed a small laugh.
"Hey," Zack Denbrough put a hand on his son's shoulder. "We'll wait in the car. You can have a few minutes with your friends before we go."
"Thanks, Dad."
The Losers all looked at each other and smiled through the pain. Eddie's attention moved to random areas in the street, attempting to ignore the inevitable thing he would have to say.
"Hey, you okay, Eddie?" Mike asked, noticing his lack of focus.
"Guys, I have to tell you something," Eddie said, unable to hold it in any longer. Richie put and arm around his shoulder to comfort him. He was just glad that Eddie had told him before the others, he didn't think he would be able to cope if he found out on the same day that Bill left.
"What is it, Eddie?" Ben asked, concerned.
Eddie took a puff of his inhaler and looked up at the sky to hide the fact that he was about to cry.
"I'm moving, too."
"What?!" Everyone was shocked.
Richie began to cry and hugged Eddie's shoulder tighter. Eddie leaned into his arm.
"W..Where to?" Bill asked.
"Connecticut, I think."
"I guess that's not as far as Bill..." Stan said.
"Yeah, but...Bill's parents will probably let him come back and visit you all. I feel like my mom won't let me step foot in this town again once we've left."
"She'd better!" Richie shouted, getting angry at the idea that someone would force their child away from his friends.
"I hope she does, Rich...but you know her..."
"Yup, I sure do," he smirked. Eddie walked right into that one.
"Beep beep, Richie," Stan sniffed.
"Bill, come on! We need to go soon!" Bill's father's voice came from the driver's side.
"Give me a minute!"
