"i guess it just sucks, you know? our first valentines together and they're stuck on a mission." cartia says to evie.

"yeah, but at least we can mope together." her elder sister says in return.

the two sisters were sat in the living room in front of their tv, watching funny youtube compilations and eating ice cream by the cartons. the rest of their siblings were with their respective others, mostly on a date or in their own houses. molly and spencer were upstairs, spending their day finishing up the baby nursery while grace looked after oscar.

"do you think they need any help? we're just gonna get fat like this." cartia asks.

"nah. as weird as it sounds, i think they're enjoying spending lovers day the way they are. putting together the room their babies are gonna sleep in sounds kinda romantic in a way."

cartia nods in agreement, turning back to the tv mounted on the wall and scooping more ice cream into her mouth, wincing when she realises how cold it actually was, making evie laugh at her as she turned to face her properly.

"so... details?"

"what details?" cartia laughs.

"y'know... details." evie winks jokingly.

"you sure?"

"i'll probably regret it, but right now? yes."

"okay, so there was this one time -"

cartia was cut off at the sound of the doorbell ringing. she furrowed her eyebrows at evie, the both of them knowing that people could only ring the doorbell after they'd been buzzed in through the gate, and only a select few people actually knew the code to get in. apart from that one time where someone has somehow jumped the fence and knocked on the door hoping to meet the team.

the girls stood up together, silently placing their ice cream down and decreasing the tv volume. if it was another stranger, they wanted to make it seem like they weren't home so they didn't have to open the door. luckily, spencer kept a bat by the front door in case of emergencies.

tip-toeing to the door, evie grabbed the bat and cartia made sure to have her phone on speed-dial to the police, just in case. evie slightly pushed her younger sister behind her, being the one with a weapon and a natural protectiveness of her, and looked through the peephole. she gasped, dropping the bat and rushed to unlock the door as quickly as she could.

"what?" cartia asked when she saw how quickly evie was moving. instead of an answer, evie threw the door open with a squeal and rushed out of it into a certain platinum-blonde speedster waiting outside it. cartia also gasped as she was pulled into a huge bear hug by someone she couldn't see, but by the arms she could tell it was peter.

coming out of her slight shock, she wrapped her arms around him too and squeezed him tight.

"what are you guys doing here?" her voice came out muffled as she was squashed against his chest.

"you really thought we'd miss valentines day?" she heard clint ask from behind peter. peter seemed to come out of his thoughts too, reluctantly letting her go and nudging her towards their other soulmates. as she was hugging them all, she didn't notice that spencer had come down after hearing all the noise.
