Chapter 9

Wedding
So the groom reaches the wedding venue around 3:30. Dev is looking extra handsome today. It's not everyday you see such handsome groom.
The Bhatias were waiting to welcome them and ofcourse Dixits made sure to make enough noise with dhols, music and dance.  Dev was trying to see if he can get a glance of his lady love but he didn't have luck.
Dev was little nervous on top of that he was upset about the fact he made Pooja cry.
Dev text to Pooja::
I'm here, can't wait to see you. But before you come I just want to apologize for yesterday I really didn't mean to hurt you in anyway. I hope you can forgive me

Pooja read the text but did not reply to him, this made Dev more nervous. The next 15 minutes felt like 15 hours.
Poonam said it's time for them to exchange their garland so they will bring Pooja. Dev just had this adrenaline rush that he couldn't think right. Everyone waited to see the bride and then Poonam and some other ladies brings Pooja. Dev who had his eyes stuck on the stairs saw this goddess coming down. He couldn't believe how gorgeous Pooja looked as a bride. He did think that she will look beautiful but he didn't think she will look ten times more beautiful than what he thought.
Dev:: Oh my God!!!!
Dadi:: Dev say oh my Goddess!!
D:: Dadi I can't agree more... are you sure I'm looking okay?
Dadi:: ofcourse I'm sure and no one else could look better with her than you. Now I'll be showing off in my kitty party that I got the most beautiful grand daughter in law
D:: and I'll show off I got the most beautiful wife (he said these words in a trans, as he is mesmerized, the closer she came the harder it was getting for him to breathe)
And there the goddess stood in front of him and he didn't know whether to bow his head in front of her or kiss her hands. He stood still with his mouth open till Riya tells him "Jiju you can close your mouth now soon she will be your wife"
It was time to exchange the garland and everyone was telling Dev not to let her make him wear the garland so easily. Then Pooja said she wants to say something before they exchange the garland. This made everyone nervous specially Dev.
Pooja:: I just want to say something rather confess.
(Scaring the hell out of Dev Now)
Yesterday Dev came to see me
(Pooja's Dadimaasi almost had a heart attack and Dev's dadi trying to hide her face)
P:: yesterday Dev came to see me and when he left, I know he left with a heavy heart because he saw me in tears.
Dev you and your family in last one month have never pressurized me for anything instead I never thought some outsider who I don't know could make me feel so special. I never thought somebody would sweep me off the ground like this. Yesterday you told me how you started to feel for me and before anything else you had to leave and you saw me in tears, you didn't want me to marry someone who didn't have strong emotional attachment with me so you shared your feelings with me. I cannot lie to you and even I want you to know how I feel for you before we start our journey. I don't want you to start with a heavy heart or feel sorry but whatever I feel for you I hope you will accept me and start the journey.
(Dev almost peed in his pants now he was scared)
Dev yesterday you said you won't die for me but you feel very strongly for me and you know you are in love with me and you love me. I know you've been feeling guilty and I'm feeling guilty too.
Dev Dixit even I won't die for you but yes I'm ready to live for you and ready to grow old with you. As you always say I have the whole life to think and answer you for everything but I don't think I'm going to waste my whole life thinking, I'm going to live my life and experience everything with you.
Dev I Love You Too!!
Dev literally teared up his nose turned red, he actually cried. It's all the emotions that bottled up since yesterday and what Pooja said now everything together made him burst out in tears. Now Dev understood why Pooja cried yesterday, now he knows it was happy tears. Pooja wiped his tears and Dev couldn't hold himself anymore he just hugged Pooja...
Dadi:: kiss the girl!!! Common Dev you can do it!!!!
Mark:: Dadi they still didn't say I do (rolling his eyes)
Dadi:: oh ok!!! We have to wait for that part now!!
Everyone cheered for them and now they are both ready to exchange their varmala (garland)  and guess what our Romeo Dev did!? He stepped back and then he bowed in front of his goddess and she made him wear the garland.
But Dev wasn't ready to exchange his garland yet.
Dev:: I want someone to carry Pooja, I always want to look up to her and she should never bow in front of me.
Hearing this Randeep got really emotional he was happy to find a boy like this for his daughter. He stepped in front of Pooja and said he will carry his daughter so that his son in law knows that he has become their son from today and they both will be there to take care of Pooja. Randeep carries his daughter really high and Dev looked up to make Pooja wear the garland.
That was a very emotional moment for both the families. After sometime the rituals for the marriage started, they've take the seven rounds around the fire and made promises to each other. Almost everyone had happy tears when Dev put the mangalsutra and sindoor.
Dev and Pooja both had teary eyes but this time they smiled at each other. At last the wedding was done but the party was not over. The guests were hanging out during the cocktail hour snacks and drinks were served and the wedding party was going to start around 7pm followed by dinner and all the craziness.
So now the DJ announced to welcome the newlywed couple Mr & Mrs Dev Dixit & Pooja Bhatia Dixit.
Pooja has changed into this elegant white silk embroidered gown and ofcourse our Dev wore a black tuxedo and they both looked match made in heaven. Dev held Pooja's hand and they came down it looked just like a fairy tale. Dev was all smiles and Pooja couldn't look any happier and it was time for their first dance. So they start their dance and they were lost in each others eyes, it seemed that they forgot that they were not alone and at the end of the dance Dev twirled her back to him in a hug and he kissed his bride in front of the world.
Guess who was the happiest after the kiss? No points for guessing yes Dadi started hooting and cheering. And people joined in for few dances before dinner was served.
During dinner family members made toast and shared some emotional moments. Then they cut this huge 7 tiered beautiful cake and everyone started partying and it went on till 10:30pm.
It was time for Pooja to start her new journey, everyone was emotional. Pooja's dad and her Chachu cried the most more than the ladies in their family and seeing them cry Disha started crying specially now that she is pregnant she gets emotional about everything and seeing her cry Dev's parents were tearing up too. They all could relate to this Bidaai as they all have daughters in the family.
Dev to Pooja's dad:: Papa I don't know how I can make you feel good but I know how you are feeling coz when my sister got married we all cried for days even though we saw her almost everyday and even though we knew she was happy and being loved. That's why all I want to say I will make sure Pooja is not only happy but feels content. I will take care of her and be patient with her and understand her. I will make sure she does not have to adjust with anything rather she makes her own space in our family we would love to learn her ways of living too and last but not the least I will love her as much as you would want someone to love her.
Randeep was so emotional that he hugged Dev and cried and said thank you to him.
Pooja sat in the limousine with Dev and waved them good bye. The car ride was rather a quiet one Dev took Pooja's hand in his and held it tight Pooja put her head on his shoulder and he gently kissed her head. Even though they were exhausted but they still had to do some rituals just because they had lot of family who came from India and they didn't want to make them feel that they don't respect the culture anymore.
They reached home and Nandini did the Griha pravesh of Pooja she came in leaving her footsteps on a special cloth which was on the floor. Then ofcourse they played the ring game and Pooja won twice and Dev once and it was a serious game Dev really wanted to win but he didn't and made a pout after loosing and felt it was not fair that he is loosing in everything and everyone is supporting Pooja.
D:: guys this is not fair, all my life everyone supported Di and now everyone supporting Pooja
P:: don't worry I'm supporting you.
Dev gave a big smile and lost his heart once again.
After all that Pooja was taken to their room as it was already 1:00 am.
After some time Dev came to the room and saw Pooja crying.
D:: Pooja what happened what's wrong? Why you crying? Everything okay? You missing your parents? (Dev panicking, Pooja shook her head to a no) then sweetie what happened?
P:: Dev I'm sorry! Because of me everything will be ruined.
D:: Pooja what's wrong what happened?
(Pooja is crying louder than before)
Dev kneeled in front of her as she was sitting on the bed, she was trying to cover her face but Dev took her hands and held them on her lap
D:: Pooja look at me! Please sweetie!! What's wrong what happened?
P:: (she is still crying) I just got my period!!
D:: what? Period? Why?
P:: I knew it, I knew you will be upset I'm sorry (crying loud now)
Dev little baffled this is something he didn't expect but he took few seconds to analyze the situation
D:: Poojaaaaaa! Pooja Pooja Pooja..... stop it Pooja. How is it your fault? Getting your period is a natural thing. You didn't plan to get your period today.
P:: nooo!! My date was on 27th but I got it two days early. May be because of all the stress and everything (starts crying again) I'm sorry I ruined our first night.
D:: Pooja, it's not only my first night it's yours too and how can you ruin it. It's not your fault you got your period. The panditji didn't plan it according to your cycle how can it be your fault. Tell me something who fixes marriages like this? We had such unplanned wedding but everything went well. Right? (Getting up and sitting next to her he put his arm around her and entwined her finger with the other one)
P:: but still ....
D:: no buts or ifs... anyway I wouldn't want my first night to be in a rush. We both are so exhausted and then tomorrow I think some ritual they are doing in the morning some mudek or something
P:: mu dikhai
D:: Yea same thing and then I'm sure they definitely have some Pooja or some ritual coz I remember my sister came back to our house after three days and stayed only one day and in ur case your dad requested for three days on top of that last day I have to stay there. Obviously you don't expect me to do anything naughty in your house that will be too embarrassing (he chuckles) and by the time we come back you will be all ready for honeymoon.
P:: but Dev it's not a good feeling. Even if we are exhausted still it's just weird.
D:: I understand you are not comfortable but I'm your husband this is natural it will happen every month. Not only that at least we get some time to know each other better. Isn't that right? This way you won't be very nervous and you will get used to sharing the same bed. What do you think?
P:: that's true, I mean I was little nervous about everything, I can't lie about that.
D:: and now I can help you take off your pins from your hair as I can see you got millions of them.
P:: oh talk about it my head is so heavy
D:: once we change then I can take my own time to look for my name in your Mehndi. Anyway I lost all the games outside so I really don't want to loose here, but you can't give me time limit ok?
(Pooja smiled and kissed his cheek)
What was that for?
P:: just felt like..
Dev making a pout and humming something trying to give some signal. Pooja just couldn't stop smiling at his antics and kissed his cute pout
D:: and why this one
P:: Coz your pout was calling me
D:: really? In that case my everything is calling you
P:: stop it now. But can I ask for another favor
D:: Yea sure.
P:: Dev I really don't feel like wearing those silk lingerie and I don't even feel like looking for anything comfortable now. Do you think you can lend me your pajama or something that's comfortable
Dev looked at her and he felt this girl is so simple so innocent and he smiled and said
D:: I'll give you my clothes as long as you don't decide to keep them for good coz I love my jammies and I'm a pajama boy I love wearing them when I'm home.
P:: oh wow that's great even I'm pajama girl, my mom always yelled at me for being so a shabby at home, but you know home is where you can be comfortable right?
D:: thank God you feel that way and you won't expect me to be all suited booted all the time.
P:: pajamas are easier to take off (she bit her tongue after she said that)
D:: whaaaaaat? Did you just say that?
P:: noooo I didn't mean anything like that (she became red)
D:: do you need anything else other then pajamas? You have your stuff for your period? I mean sanitary napkins or tampons.
P:: no I have that, I just need something comfortable.
Dev helped her take off all the pins from her hair then she went to the changing room but then she needed help with the zipper of her dress so she called Dev. Her zipper was half way down but she couldn't pull it all the way down. Dev had to calm himself down when he saw her smooth skin. He couldn't help but hug her from the back and kiss her neck. She just turned around and hugged him, then they had a little moment there, Dev couldn't help but kiss her passionately and slowly pulled her zipper down. He rubbed her smooth skin almost pushing her sleeves off of her shoulder, as they were pasted to each other the dress didn't fall off and later Pooja stop the dress to go down.
D::(whispering) it's ok to change in front of your husband
P:: I know but I guess not today
Dev understood why as she was not comfortable so he said he will use the bathroom and change there she can take her time.
D:: incase you want to wash your face or something you can come in I'll keep the door open and I don't mind changing in front of my wife (he said that with a smirk and Pooja looked down and smiled)
After they washed up and they changed Dev was all excited about finding his name.
P:: Dev these clothes are so comfortable
D:: ok don't tell me you are planning on taking my closet. (Pooja giggled) madam just because you are looking super cute doesn't mean you can take over my closet okay (Pooja just said ok ok and giggled)
D:: okay now let me see your hands I know I'll find it right away.
Dev kept on looking but he couldn't find it and he got so frustrated that he said he didn't wanna play this game. But still didn't want to give up and kept on asking for clues. He was so frustrated that Pooja almost told him exactly where to look and atlast he found his name on her ring finger and he was so proud of himself. Pooja was amused to see how happy he was even though Pooja gave the biggest clue. It was already late and both of them were so tired that they fell asleep talking to each other, around 7:30 Dev woke up because Pooja was tossing and turning she looked really pale and she was in pain.
D:: Pooja You okay? What's wrong sweetheart?
P:: I'm getting cramps.
D:: oh no!! You get such cramps all the time?
P:: not really.. but whenever my date changes things get weird
D:: do you take any medicine or anything
P:: some Motrin or ibuprofen if u have any
Dev jumped out of his bed and got some Motrin
P:: do you have any icyhot patch or hot bag or something that I can use
D:: hmmm!! I don't have that but I know Dadi uses them just wait
P:: Dev don't worry about it, I'll be fine. It's too early to go there they must be sleeping
D:: don't worry Maa and Dadi are early riser, I'm sure they are sitting and having their desi style full mug tea
P:: Dev are you sure? I really don't want to bother them.
D:: don't worry sweetheart if they are sleeping I won't wake them up okay?
P:: mmm
D:: where did my T-shirt go
P:: how do you have your T-shirt off last I remember you had it on
D::(he smiled feeling little shy) oh actually I can't sleep with my clothes on specially T-shirt I must've taken it off in my sleep
P:: I'm glad you didn't take off anything else
Dev found his T-shirt and went running to his Dadi and he was right his mom and Dadi was sitting in front of the fire and drinking their tea and chit chatting. Dev always loved their relationship, his dadi was more close to his mom than his dad, she has always taken his mom's side than his dad's. Now he was expecting the same from his mom. Suddenly dadi turned and saw Dev was standing there rubbing his eyes
Dadi:: allee mera beta!! What you doing here so early?
D:: Dadi do you have those icyhot patches or where is your hot bag
Dadi:: why do you need that now?
D:: it's for Pooja
Dadi:: Dev????? What have you done? I told you to go easy on her
D:: Dadi are you serious? You only think about one thing.. change your focus please
Nandini:: oh God! Can you guys stop. Dev what happened to Pooja? Is she okay?
D:: Maa she got her period last night and she got it two days early so now she is getting cramps.
(Dadi  chuckled🤭 ) Dadi you are laughing? If you can't help then I don't need your help. Poor girl is in pain and  you are making fun of me.
Nandini:: Maa please poor boy is stressed, I'm sure they didn't even sleep properly.
D:: Yea May be three hours
Dadi:: you just said she got her period last night then what were you doing so late?
D:: (frustrated) we were playing football. Happy? Maa please say something to your mother in law. Day by day she is losing it. Please don't be so insensitive towards Pooja okay?
Dadi:: Nandini look at your son, he is yelling at me.
D:: Dadi .....
Dadi:: okay baba!! Sorry sorry!! Okay come with me I'll give you the icyhot
Dev goes with Dadi and she gives him the patches
Dadi:: Dev?!
D::yes Dadi
Dadi:: I'm proud of you beta. Go get some sleep now ok
Dev gives Dadi a quick hug and goes back to his room and he finds Pooja in fetal position wailing in pain,he rushes to her .
D:: Pooja!! Hey sweetie, is it hurting a lot? Come let me put the patch on your back that should help and here Dadi even gave this hot pillow so you can put it on your belly.
Pooja took the hot pillow and Dev took the icyhot patch he lifted her T-shirt slowly massaged her back and put the patch on her back. After that Dev laid right behind her, she was cocooned in his arms and soon both of them fell asleep....

That's it for today next update will be coming up ASAP. Sorry for the disappointment about their first night 😜😜 but that's a special topic  so it has to be special.
