Selene's POV:
I woke up cold. I didn't open my eyes as I started trying to figure out what was going on around me. The first thing I was that I was on a soft bed. The second thing I noticed was that I was alone; where was Brandon? Where was Annie? I was so used to waking up with another wolf at this point that I couldn't make sense of what was happening.
The third and most important thing I noticed was that I couldn't feel my hands, or my arms. I slowly batted open my eyes and looked around. I wasn't in the pack house. My hands were bound with chains above my head to the big arch of the bedpost that I was draped across. What's going on? Why does my head ache so much?
I tried calling to Yvonne, but I didn't get any response. My breath started coming out shakily, and I strained, trying to recall what had happened. My wolf was gone, and I was alone in a strange room with no memory of how I got here. I look around the room. It's a bedroom, a circular bedroom that is eerily symmetrical and perfect: the ceiling is made out of dark oak and stretches far above me into a dome, with a single, round skylight at the top. The walls are coated with red velvet curtains, which are close: I can't tell if there are windows behind them, or if they're just for decoration. The hardwood floors leading up to the door placed opposite the bed are coated with red carpets the same shade as the curtains. Bookshelves line the walls, varying shades of white and black. Over the door hangs a small painting, hanging sideways, looking almost as if it was thrown up as an afterthought, with the words 'Home Sweet Home' scribbled on. I feel my eyes being drawn around the room again, until they rest on the end of the bed. A small collection of roses and flowers are resting on the sheets, with a small vase of water at the foot of the bed. It looked like I was being taken care of at a hospital, a really high end hospital. I felt oddly... comforted. This room was perfect. It was so spotless and clean, and it was pristine. It was exactly what I had always wanted. But then I looked at my hand cuffs.
Something was wrong. No, this wasn't right. I never liked clean, pristine things. In fact, I hated them, especially after being an omega for so many years. I'd rather have yogurt fights with the twins than live politely and quietly in a little room. Twins. Pack. Training. I stare hard at the chains, and suddenly I notice the glowing characters scrolled across them. They look foreign, like a far off, distant dream, but I'm able to decipher them somehow.
Forget. Forget. Stay. Submit. Forget.
It was like a chant, a chant that bound my wrists together. I glanced around the room again and the wave of calm crashed over me a second time, but this time the bliss was accompanied by an increasing fear. I stared back at the cuffs, trying to remember what was going on.
And then suddenly it clicked. Blinking black and white lights, a menacing smirk. My alpha, my boyfriend's body limp against a tree. I can't help it as tears start coming out of my eyes and staining my cheeks, rolling off my nose and onto the bed sheets with a constant drip. I wanted to scream but my voice couldn't bring itself to call out. I slowly moved so that my arms weren't stretched over my head. My whole body ached, but I was dressed as if I had never worked a day in my life. I moved so that I was kneeling at the bed post, staring blankly at the cuffs on my wrists.
The room blurred, the tears clinking as they landed on the cold metal that bound my wrists together. Brandon was gone. Jason had killed him. Wait. Jason. He said he would marry me. He said I was... the moon princess. I remembered hearing about it through closed conference doors before my parents died. I strained to remember what they had said.
