 Biola's POV

Today is the day. I've had my birth father's number for the last few months but today is the first time I'm going to call him.

The tone kept dialling. I counted every second in between each ring. As soon as I was about to put the phone down, I heard a Yoruba greeting.

I returned it and then got down to business.

"Hi. You don't know me but I'm Ifelayo's daughter. I was born in 1999, the year you were with her. I'm your daughter." I said, taking a deep breath. If this man ended the call now, at least he knew the truth.

There was a long silence. I kept checking to see if he had hung up on me or not.

"Let's meet next week. With your mother too. I'm sure you have a lot of questions about it." He continued. I kept trying to analyse his voice, to see if it was similar to mine in any way.

After I opened my door, trying to get ready for work, Ayo was stood outside of my bedroom door. Worst eavesdropper ever.

"I'm not going to run off into my biological Dad's arms. Our Dad is still ours and you are the only family, I have left" I said, wrapping my arms around him.

Then I did something I usually never do, I allowed myself to cry. It just came out. It ached and it was snotty and gross. My Mum didn't care my not-Dad is dead, Wale hates me everything is just wrong.

"Go away now, Ayo. I hate you seeing me like this," I said after a while, shutting my door.
