Richard stood in his office, watching the minute spectacles of cars racing down the road below him.
Tiny heads of million people crossing the streets, walking down the pavement, the hub-bub of life bustling down.
A knock sounded through the door and he shouted a 'come in' without turning.
"Good evening son. How are things today?"
Richard then turned to see his father, walking to the plush sofa that lay against the wall at the right end and sitting down with a tired sigh.
It was late into the evening.
He had left immediately after babbling out the one truth that hides his dirty sins to Dawn.
When earlier Lorenzo had told him where she had wondered off to, he at once knew she would head to the stables.
He didn't know why he said what he said. Too afraid to see her reaction, he sprinted out of the barn.
He met Gloria, waiting for him back at the house and he by passed her not in the mood to talk with anyone.
He showered, dressed and got into his black Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster. It's not his best choice but when Richard is not himself he takes this specific car out.
The quirkiness of the car brings him back to his own self.
On reaching the Dante Tower, he shuts off his mind out and infuses himself into work.
He didn't get up from his seat till right now.
As usual his office was vast and spacious. He had a thing for wide and expansiveness. It made him feel like that.
Full and boundless.
Moving around his desk, he placed his hands inside his pockets. "Things are good. What brings you by? I thought our meeting wasn't scheduled till this Sunday."
Crossing his legs, Robert twirled the ends of his eyebrow. A sign Richard has come across when his father was apprehensive about something.
"Is something the matter?"
"Well, I know you told me you wouldn't look into the Gloria situation. I just-"
"Pa-"
"No. I know but I'm concerned. I just want to see if this step you have taken isn't going to back you into a corner."
This perplexed Richard even more. "But you are the one who told me-"
"I know. I know what I said. Hence, I want you to let me take care of it."
"What do you mean 'take care of it'?"
"I have hired a private investigator to trace Gloria's ex boyfriend."
Tongue in cheek, Richard sits down across his father. He threads his fingers through strands of his hair. "You think this is a hustle?"
"I'm not saying that. I'm just cautioning you."
After some time, he asks, "Do you need me to ask Gloria?"
"Not directly! But try to beat around the bush."
"Okay."
"Speaking of which, how are things anyway? Didn't you say she had a daughter? What's her name?"
"Dawn." His response was so quick it caught Robert's attention.
He simply stayed quiet, his face tilting as he studied his son. Interesting.
