"Why do you both look like you didn't get any sleep"Lauren asked the next day while we sat having our lunch. Nuri and I were matching dark circles underneath our eyes after searching for two days straight for Lila. I had been avoiding Wesley all weekend for fear of his reaction.
"Uhh... well... we are working on a project.... for history class" Nuri says quick to come up with an explanation. Lauren eyed us suspiciously before biting into her apple. It was silent for awhile until my eyes glanced at a fuming Wesley storming through the cafeteria.
He looked around until his eyes finally found mine. With fist balled and a frown gracing his face he stormed towards our table slamming his hands down hard.
"I've been calling you all weekend. Why haven't you been answering my calls or texts"? He growled softly leaning a little closer to me. I glanced nervously between a frowning Lauren and a smirking Nuri.
"I was a little busy this weekend. I didn't see your calls... or texts" I say softly trying to get him to lower his voice.
"A quick text would have sufficed Adora" I gasp at him saying my name. I knew this had to be serious as he never called me by my name. He gripped my hand and the next thing I knew I was being dragged by the hand across the cafeteria.
He led me outside to the courtyard. Eyes followed us until we stopped in front of a shaded tree. "Wes what is going on with you? Your not acting like yourself" I say as I see anger in his eyes.
Just a few days ago he had been sweet and caring yet now as I look at him he look very agitated. "I'm just pissed off at my parents and you not texting me back didn't really help" he growled lightly.
"I can't always be at your beck and call Wesley. I have a life of my own as well". I frown folding my arms across my chest. He runs a hand down his face as he leans against the large tree.
"I didn't drag you out here to fight Adora. I just wanted to talk about Lila, we need to move her to another location". I bite my lip with worry, even though me and Nuri had spent the entire weekend looking for the she wolf we still arrived at dead ends.
"Uhh yeah about that...." I look away studying the ground as if it was the most interesting thing.
"Is there something you need to tell me. If it's anymore bad news I don't if I'll be able to control myself" he said with a grunt. I wring my hands together bracing myself for the total explosion about to take place.
"Wellll.... after our little run in with the hunters I went over to Nuris house. But... when I got there... she wasn't anywhere to be found". I watch Wesley's face turn to one of pure rage.
"What do you mean she was nowhere to be found?! Adora this is serious! If the pack finds out I've been hiding a rogue they could kick me out of the pack... for good"! He whisper yells.
"This isn't my fault! Nuri went for a swim and when she came back Lila was gone! She didn't know that the girl would up and leave" I say trying to defend Nuri.
"You said we could trust her Adora! I should have never came to you for help"! It felt like a slap to my face. I froze at his words feeling the sudden rush of anger.
"Well from now on I won't help you anymore! And don't even think about texting me later I don't want to speak to you" I snapped stomping away from him.
"Adora wait-"
"Screw you Wesley"
I kept walking back inside the school as hot angry tears leaked from my eyes. I'd had enough of Wesley pointing fingers at me. This was his problem to deal with and I no longer wanted any part of it.
The day dragged on with Wesley trying to send me notes in class which I immediately crushed up and threw in the trash. When the bell rang and school was finished I got a ride from Nuri deciding to chill at her house a bit.
"I can't believe he said that to you. I was honestly rooting for the guy" Nuri says grabbing us a snack from the fridge. I angrily pop a grape into my mouth.
"You'd think he'd be a little more appreciative. I went behind my parents back too! I could also get in trouble if they found out". I say watching her cut up some strawberries.
"From what Lauren has told me she says the pack rules are not to be broken. If they figure out Wesley hid a rogue he could potentially be thrown out the pack". I grab a few chopped strawberries munching on them in deep thought.
"His parents would never let that happen" I say. I knew aunt Arista had been deeply torn up when Wesley had been sent away. When I spent time at their house she constantly looked depressed. Even though she had been busy with the pack children she still missed her cub.
"Mmm I wouldn't doubt it since they did send him away. It's not like the idea is impossible" Nuri points out. The fear in my heart throbbed painfully, I don't think I could handle him leaving again. He was my childhood friend and losing him the first time was not a good feeling.
Suddenly the door bell rings leaving Nuri confused."No one was supposed to stop by today" she whispers before going to open the door. I hear a loud gasp getting up from the stool I had been sitting on.
I'm shocked to see a very pissed off Lauren holding Lila roughly by the scruff of her shirt. "You bitches have alot of explaining to do" she growls pushing harshly inside Nuri's house.
