It was a late night when Nuri decided she was going to take her daily dip into their pool. Being a mermaid wasn't easy but it was her sanctuary. She had been born in the water and one day she would die in it. She pulled her dark hair up into a ponytail then wrapped a yellow towel around her body.

Making her way outside, the bitter cold winter air nipped at her skin. They had there pool cleaned for the week, fresh water was the best water. Her skin began to itch so it was time to get hydrated, she dipped her toes in letting it soak deeply before submerging. The water swallowed her whole as she began to do laps across the water.

Her long green tail flapped against the water and created huge waves. She increased her speed immensely trying to get in her daily exercise. A looming shadow leaned against the pool to which she was unaware of. The shadow was covered in a dark cloak, almost appearing ghost like. Taking out a white pouch, the shadow poured a white powder into the pool.

The pool began to bubble like a science project and the shadow smirked proudly. It then disappeared from sight as if it hadn't ever been there. Nuri felt her eyes began to sting as she stopped to take a break. She tried catching her breath, when she noticed the pool bubbling. The temperature increased and it started to burn her tail.

Feeling nauseous, she tried to lift herself out of the pool but felt weak. "Help....hel-" she croaked miserably getting weaker by the minute. Blisters began to form against her skin a tail and she ached and bled as the hot rising water scarred her skin.

A chemical like smell emitted from the pool choking her. She gripped the side of the pool tightly, her knuckles turning red. Her vision was now blurry and she couldn't see a thing. She tried with all her might to stay awake but as she took her last breath she could no longer hold on. Her body began to sink down to the pool floor, eye wide open she took her last breath.

Her body no longer moving, the shadow appeared once again. Satisfied she dived into the pool grabbimg Nuri's lifeless body. She pulled her on the ground and started the ritual. Pouring a purple liquid into the mermaids mouth a sudden purple smoke appeared throughout her body.

Nuri's soul escaped her body and the shadow began to chant a few words. Leaving her own body, the shadows soul entered Nuri's body. Eating away at her insides once fimished feasting the shadow wiped her mouth that dripped with blood.

Mermaid blood was the richest and finest. The shadow left Nuri's body on the ground not caring who found her the next day. When morning came a servant had found Nuri's lifeless body battered and torn apart. She signaled the girls parents as they rushed outside to find there only daughter dead.

Nuri Akiyama was no more.

Adora had woken up with a start the next morning. She felt her chest tighten a bit as she could feel something was off. Dropping her eye drops into her eyes, she grabbed her things she would need for school. Walking downstairs she was surprised to see her parents as Nuri's parents sitting in the living room.

"Mr. And Mrs. Akiyama... what are you doing here" ? She noticed tears falling out of Mrs. Akiyamas eyes and it worried her a bit.

"Sweetheart... come sit down" her mother beckoned and she obeyed. She sat in between her parents and her mother instantly wrapped her arms around her. She forced her head down to lay against her shoulder.

"Mom... what's going on"? Adora stuttered her voice cracking a bit. Her father lightly stroked her arm. Nuri's parents sat acros from them with saddened expressions.

"Sweetheart... something has happened to Nuri. She... uh.. she's gone baby" her mother whispered. Adora shot out of her mother's arms with a confused look.

"Wh- what are you talking about? What do you mean she's gone? I... I spoke to her last night...where could she have gone"? Adora began to laugh hysterically thinking they mist have been playing a joke on her.

"Adora... baby... Nuri was murdered last night... they found her body... this morning" her mother said sadly. She looked to Nuri's parents who were silently sobbing. This couldn't have been true.... right? Nuri had been fine... she had been her normal self despite them getting into trouble with the whole Lila scandal.

"I want to see her.... now"! Adora fisted her hands her body shaking all over. She stormed out of the house using her vampire speed to rush to Nuri's house. There laid a stretcher with a white sheet covering over it. The rest of the mermaid clan gathered around with saddened expressions.

Adora pushed her way through ripping the white sheet off. Sure enough Nuri's body laid lifeless her almond shaped eyes  were wide open. Her skin had blisters everywhere and she had turned hauntingly pale. Her body began to shake as she let out a gut wrenching sob.

"Nuri.. Nuri... please... wake up... I need you" Adora sobbed throwing her body over Nuri's. She lightly shook her as if trying to wake her. She couldn't believe this was happening. She stood there all day not ready to let her go. Nuri had been like a sister to her. What was the point in fighting? A piece of her felt broken and numb like she could no longer feel.

Wesley later showed up. He said nothing as he pulled Adora into his arms. She screamed and sobbed so loud, her cries could be heard from miles away. She cried until her head started to hurt and her vision became blurry. Closing her eyes Wesley rocked them back and forth as they stood beside Nuri who was now gone.

Someon had intentionally killed Nuri. And that day Adora vowed to avenge Nuri. Her death would not end in vain, and once she uncovered the truth only then would she be satisfied.
