Chapter 7 - Manipulate

═ ∘◦❦◦∘ ═

I panted a bit as I placed the second barrel of fruits down on the boat. I was able to find an abundance of produce in the forest.

Knowing that Luffy and Zoro would surely be stuffing their faces, I quickly filled up the barrel that I brought along with me. I just hope, it would be enough for all of us.

Captain and the navigator were taking an awfully long time so I went back to fill up a second barrel. I actually assumed I would find some animals that I could probably hunt but I wasn't able to catch a glimpse of at least one.

Guess the movement I saw a while ago was just the wind.

I hummed as I took a spare empty crate. The procedure is starting to bore me since this will be the third time. Luffy and Nami were still venturing around the island so I'll just do another trip. Hopefully, it'll be the last.

Now that I think about it, I haven't seen them once during my time in the forest. They could be on the other part of the island but it's kinda weird that we haven't bumped into each other. Guess we might possibly be missing each other.

"Kimiko?"

I whipped my head towards the sound, tense from the sudden proclamation of my name. However, I soon relaxed when it was just the green-headed swordsman. He was still looking pretty tired as he gazed at me with half-lidded eyes.

"Go back to sleep," I mumbled as I held the empty, promptly placing it down to get closer to the first mate's figure.

"Where's Luffy and Nami?" Zoro inquired, slowly glancing around the half-empty boat. He must have been confused why he isn't waking up to the loud voice of Luffy.

"They're exploring the island."

"... Just them two?" Zoro frowned as he stared me down. Well... Up... Since the swordsman is still laying down on the deck.

"Yeah," I briefly replied while I crouched beside him.

The first mate grumbled under his breath at the thought of the two being alone. Acting like he hasn't brought his guard down during the time Nami was with us. Though he still has his guard up, it wasn't as high compared with actual enemies.

I internally rolled my eyes at his suspiciousness but didn't retort anything. I would leave him be with his denial. The greenhead would come sooner or later.

I pressed the back of my palm on his forehead, checking if he is having a fever because of his injury. It was after all common to have one, especially after such a wound. Well, ordinary for normal folks. I don't really know if Luffy, Zoro, and I can be called as such.

"What are you doing with that?" Zoro pointed at the crate that was left on the side.

I followed his gaze and quickly remembered that the man is famished. I swiftly took a fruit from one of the barrels and placed it beside the first mate.

"I'm stocking up." I simply answered as I carried the empty crate, ready to go back to the forest for one last trip.

"Hm..."
