Chapter 11 - Gifts

Once the three kids guided us by the seaside, we began to just walk around. The place was still quite vast so we can't find where the captain is.

I hummed as I jump up on a boulder. I peered on the cliff, just staring at the high rock formation. It would be instant death if someone falls from that high.

Why am I having a bad feeling...

I shortly hopped off and continued with my own exploring. Zoro and Nami were keeping the boys' company as they strut in the opposite direction. I gave the first mate and navigator a brief nod before disappearing.

The trip here was filled with grumblings from the swordsman and whining from the thief. For some reason, their team-up awhile ago made them want to converse to me. It was alright, although I didn't say anything and just continued to smile at the two.

"Neh, how did you guys met Luffy?" Nami questioned.

At the sudden query, both Zoro and I stopped for a second before regaining our composure. The first mate merely grunted and shrugged as he proceeded to walk a bit faster from us.

Guess he doesn't like sappy shit.

But then, the way Zoro and Luffy met was kinda amusing. Also the occurrence of how the swordsman was blackmailed to join the crew. The captain told the story to me back when we left my island. It was nice to hear that my meeting with them wasn't as bizarre compared to theirs.

I turned towards the confused navigator, smiling at her before pointing towards my grin. It was a gesture that means nothing to others but says thousand of words to those who know.

"Let's just say, my smile lead me to him."

I sighed in content when the breeze hit my being entirely. The sun is going to set soon and yet the captain is nowhere to be seen. But then, Zoro and the others might have found Luffy already, they probably thought I'll look for them after a while...

Yup, that seems almost plausible.

I facepalmed at the sudden thought before taking another look around me. Nothing but rocks, rocks, and the captain sleeping soundlessly like we haven't been looking for him since forever.

I sweatdropped as I stared at Luffy's figure. He looks so peaceful just snoring away on that small boulder. I almost wanted to simply leave the poor lad and let him continue with his slumber. At the same time, I feel oddly annoyed seeing him in that position.

I'm not even sure I'm surprised anymore. Either the captain is somewhere having the time of his life or he is in the middle of trouble. And right now, it looks like he's having the time of his life just drifting off into la la land.

I promptly turned back, ready to find the others before waking Luffy up. Although, as I step forward, I suddenly heard the sound of a loud growl. It was like a big monster threatening to eat me if I move an inch.

With that, I maintained my steady position. Tense and praying to every god that I don't believe in to save me from this predicament. How did a monster get behind me anyways?!
