Chapter 16

Chapter 16 - Set sail

"Thank you! It's all thanks to you!" Usopp smiled as he faced us. "If it weren't for you guys, the village couldn't have been protected."

The happiness in his form is emitting intensely, and I didn't have to look at the teen to know he was approaching. A satisfied hum escaped as I felt the sun rays hitting my skin. Today is a pretty warm day, a perfect time to sleep and not do anything. 

"What are you saying? " Zoro smirked, hugging his swords close to him while leaning on the side of the slope. Whatever injury he acquired seems to dissipate into nothing. "If you hadn't done anything, I wouldn't have either."

"Same here!" Luffy grinned as he looked at the teen. The captain is sprawled in the middle of the slope right beside me, and like the firstmate, he only felt tired and hungry. Not a single bit bothered by the blood and wounds in his being. 

"That doesn't matter; I was able to get the treasure." Nami giggled, holding a huge bag. With how long she was plundering the enemy ship before they fled, it wouldn't be surprising if the treasure she got were all that was available. 

"It was a nice experience..." I whispered into thin air. 

Fortunately, the orangehead knows essential first aid, which saved me from dying of blood loss. However, I'm not confident that I would avoid getting the cuts infected while at sea. I'll simply have to pray to whichever god above that they don't take me yet.

A yawn escaped my lips as I felt something being perched on my face. I didn't bother glancing to who and what it was, merely humming in thanks. The item covered the sunlight enough, covering my eyes from the harshness of the sun. My body relaxed further, already half-asleep and waiting for the conversation to end so I wouldn't miss anything important.

"In light of this... There's a decision I've made!" Usopp grinned, chuckling under his breath. He has mustered up his courage all these years but today is when he became certain -and it's all thanks to the actual pirate crew in front of him.

This is unnecessary. As usual, I had a forced smile while I stared at the three teens in front of me. They weren't budging, and so am I. Too bad it's three versus one, or else I would have won.

Nami has a stern look on her face with her arms crossed. The orangehead decided that I am not allowed to walk or move an inch because of my injuries. That's why the captain and the firstmate are currently agreeing on whether to have me rest on the boat, or someone would have to carry me along. 

Both options are a no. 

The navigator really had to overestimate and say that I would die if I took even a single step. I almost laughed at her claim, knowing that only an idiot would fall for it. Unfortunately, the duo she was talking to is nincompoops-they believed her words instantly. 

"I'll carry you!" Luffy grinned before crouching with his back facing my way. I felt the corners of my lips twitching, a bit disturbed at how they were babying me. I mean, I did almost die, but right now I'm alive -they should calm down already.

"Captain, I'm not that weak, you know." 

"Yep! But I want to, and it'll be fun!"

Having no choice, I climbed the ravenhead's back. I wouldn't be surprised if Luffy declared mutiny if I rejected the offer one more time. The teen, unfortunately, heard the word during the fight. Zoro had to share it with me when our captain kept shouting mutiny when I wasn't listening to his scoldings.
