Chapter 3
After today's events and bringing my belongings into the house I felt exhausted. I lay awake at night thinking back to earlier today on the balcony. 'That wolf, why was it staring at me? It just looked so familiar' I rolled over to look out the balcony window, the full moon shining right into my room. "Typical."
Wanting to know more about this wolf, I climbed out of bed throwing on a pair of shorts, a hoodie and a pair of converse. I made my way down the stairs and to the back door that led out to the woods. Walking over to where I last seen the wolf I took a step trying not to make so much noise. "You're in the woods, there are branches and leaves everywhere of course you're going to make noise." I whisper yelled to myself. What are the chance that this wolf is the one from my dream?
I went deeper into the woods not sure where I was going, the only sounds coming from crickets and the wind slightly blowing; rustling up the leaves. I stoped, knowing this was probably pointless. I turned back the way I came, when I heard the snapping of a branch and crunching of leaves. Trying not to panic, I glanced to my left to where I thought the noise was coming from and looked around the dark space of wood, the moonlight not doing to much lighting in this moment. "Okay, whoever is out there, please don't hurt me."
I tried to walk back the way I came as quietly as I could, and that's when I realized that it was too quiet. I stopped for a second listening. The crickets were no longer chirping and the wind wasn't blowing anymore. Closing my eyes and taking in a deep breathe, I tried to settle my racing heart before I went into panic mode. Warm air fanned my face as I stood there. "Don't be anything scary, don't be anything scary." I mumbled to myself. I opened one eye and came face to face with a very large snout.
Opening both eyes I took in the massive wolf from before, that now stood in front of me, its moon lite eyes piercing into my own. I went to take a step back but stopped as an animalistic growl came from the beast in front of me. Not sure what to do I put my hands up and very slowly sank to the ground. His eyes watched my every move. Once seated, he moved towards me, sniffing up my exposed leg, up my arm, to my neck, and then my hair.
The wolf laid down and rested his head in my lap. "Oh, alright I guess this is fine." I went to pet the top of his head when he let out a growl, his piercing eyes opening to stare at me. I put my hand back down and sat up straight, the wolf closing his eyes.
"Is there a reason why you decided to lay on me wolf?"
The wolf opened his eyes and sat up, staring down at me like I was his prey. I gave a tight smile, "I don't speak wolf, so if you're going to try and 'talk' to me, maybe some head nods or shakes?" The wolf huffed and rolled its eyes.
"Did you really just roll your eyes at me?"
The wolf gave me a raised eyebrow look as if to say "So?"
"Um okay, I must be really tired, for a second there it looked like you raised an eyebrow. Do wolves even have eyebrows?"
A yawn escaped me as I started to get up, the wolf rising with me. "I need to get back wolf, sorry." I started walking in the direction I thought was the way to my house when I felt the tip of the wolf's nose nudge my shoulder. I looked up, his head nodding in the opposite direction. "You want me to go that way?" He nodded his head. I raised a questioning brow, "Are you sure?" The wolf huffed and started walking in that direction, me following right behind. A few minutes later we were at the edge of my backyard. I walked up the porch steps and looked back at the wolf to already see him leaving. When I got back up to my room, I went right to my bed, sleep coming to me instantly. That night I dreamt of the wolf with the moonlight eyes.
