Chapter 8

"Thank you for the coffee." I said taking a sip.

"You're welcome."
We sat at a table near the back of the coffee shop, so we could be secluded. "So, tell me more about werewolves."
"What do you want to know?"
"Anything to be honest, I'm completely blind to it all, well besides the books I've read."
Eli nodded his head and played with the mug in front of him. "Okay, lets start there. Tell me what you know or what you think you, and I'll try and debunk your answers."

I took a breath, thinking back on the books I've read back home. "The books that I've read were mostly fantasy romance novels. Um, they usually talked about Alphas, and their mates? We've already sort of talked about rogues, so I know those exist. Being marked? Alphas are very territorial and possessive? I don't know, that's all I can really think of, its like my mind is drawing a blank."
He smiled and leaned his arms on the table, "Your in luck, everything you've said so far is accurate. Every wolf has a mate, and they can choose whether to accept them or not. It can be heartbreaking when a wolf is rejected or vice versa, they experience tremendous loss to the point were they want to die, and some do take their own lives just to not feel that pain any longer."

I was stunned to think anyone would do such a thing. "That's horrible to even thing about."
"I know, we try to limit the amount of rejections in our pack just to avoid loss of numbers."
"Do you have a mate Eli? I don't mean to intrude on your life, but you seem to hangout a lot around me. I would hate for your mate to feel as though she's been rejected."
Eli slammed his fist on the table, making me jump in my seat, his eyes darkened to a charcoal black, "I would never in a million lifetimes dream of rejecting my mate." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Yes, I've found my mate. She just so happens to be the most amazing woman I've ever met, and I've met plenty of woman."
"Wow, Eli.."
"I didn't mean it like that." I nodded smirking. "How old are you anyway?"
He rolled his shoulders and squinted at me, "On the outside? Probably 28, but I'm over 300."
My mouth dropped open in shock, and jumped out of my seat. "No way, seriously!" My outburst got the attention of other people in the cafe, I blushed and sat back down. "No way." I whispered. I grabbed his hands in mine, "Oh the stories you must have. I have to hear them all." I gushed. He stared at with a smile on his face. I smiled back realizing I'm still holding his hands I pulled them back, but he grabbed my hand planting a kiss on the inside of my palm. The touch made me blush, and I bit my lip. He looked at me, his eyes darkening, "Don't bite your lip, or I will." I sucked in a breath and raised a brow in challenge. "Is that so?" I licked my lips and sucked  my bottom lip between my teeth.
Before I knew it Eli grabbed the front of my shirt and pulled me to him closing the distance between us and smashing our lips together. He kept his word, and bit down on my bottom lip, making me moan and gasp, his tongue slipped in my mouth, wrestling with my tongue. I reached up and squeezed his cheeks making his lips pucker, "Your mate?"
"Don't worry about it, I don't think she will be mad."
I pulled back and looked him in the eyes confused. "What? But you just said."
He laughed and sat back in his chair. "Emily if it wasn't obvious enough. Who do you think my mate is?"
I shrugged and looked around the cafe, and noticed Ann looking this way, she looked upset. She noticed me looking at her and blushed walking away towards the counter to talk to the cashier.
"Ann..? Or are you gay?" He burst out in to a fit of laughter, "Seriously?" He stood up and held his hand out to me. I was so confused, and grabbed his hand as we walked to the exit of the cafe. "If I were gay, I don't think I would be kissing you."
"I mean, it could be a facade." He just shook his head, still laughing.

After we left the cafe, Eli wanted to show me around town since I was new here. It was a beautiful town, with its tiny shops that made you feel like you were in the 1800's, which I guess made sense. "So, I'm having a party later on tonight. Do you want to go?"
