Chapter 10
Eli and what I'm assuming were his friends stepped out of the room, which left me and my mom sitting there in silence. I had so many questions, but I didn't know whether she would know the answer to them. With a sigh, I asked "Do you know?" I looked at my mother, she had her head resting in the palm of her hand and leaning on the arm of the chair. She shrugged, "What do you mean?"
"Oh don't give me that. About the wolves. You're not freaking out like you were when you first got to the room."
She sat up in her chair and looked me dead in the eye. "Emily I wanted to tell you, I just wasn't sure when the right time would be." My fist clenched making the needle go deeper in my hand, and I winced. "Maybe when I was younger, that would have been nice mom instead of keeping it all to yourself." I spoke through clenched teeth, my body filling with pure rage. "Emily calm down."
"Calm down! How long did you know?"
The way she avoided my gaze led me to believe that she knew a lot longer than what I thought. "How long?"
"Well you see—It's complicated." She said with a nervous smile. "Spit. It. Out." I demanded.
She sighed, "We're werewolves." I frowned not really understanding the we part, so I asked. "What do you mean 'we'?""Your father and I." she whispered, a sad look in her eye.
I couldn't help but to be angry with her, keeping these secrets away from me for so long. I threw the blanket off me and pulled the IV's out of my hand. Dizziness washed over me as I tried to stand, gripping the bed for support. "Emily, please sit back down and listen." I shook my head, "No, I can't even look at you anymore. Last time I checked you kicked me out, so get out." She sat there looking at me horrified. My breathing became heavier and a drop of sweat made its way down the side of my face. "I said, Get. Out!"
I threw the glass of water at her, which smashed against the wall behind her. Angry tears started falling down my face as I threw whatever was around me which happened to be the pillows on the bed. The whole time I was yelling for her to get out. At the sound of the glass breaking, Eli and his friends came running into the room, Eli's arms wrapped around me holding me in place so I didn't throw anything else.
He pulled me out of the room kicking and screaming, eventually he lost hold of me and I fell to the ground. "Emily." I scooted away from him, backing up into the wall opposite of the room I was just in. I stood up feeling weak, Eli took a step forward but I held my hand up for him to stop. I felt the stiches in my shoulder ripping and blood was soaking the bandage. With my ribs being bruised it was making it harder to breathe. "Emily, let me help you."
"No, no I don't want your help." I started walking down the hall not sure where I was going or where I was at. I remember Eli mentioning this place being the pack infirmary. I leaned my body against the wall, Eli walking beside me. Quick footsteps made their way towards us, I glanced over my shoulder wincing in pain, seeing it was the guys from earlier. "Alpha should she be walking?" one of them whispered. "She doesn't want my help Daniel." So that's what his name was. "Why not she's your m-." I looked back to see Eli punch him in the stomach.
As we rounded the corner I could see a waiting room with a couch not being occupied and a few chairs. I groaned as I sank down into the couch, blood still oozing from my wound. Eli, Daniel and the other guy stood above me staring at me with their arms crossed. I probably looked a hot mess, with sweat in places I didn't know sweat could be, my hair most likely looked like a birds nest. I laughed which only made me groan. "Would you like some help?" the one I didn't know the name of asked. He seemed like a sweet boy, "Sure." I said, which only made Eli growl.
Before he could help me up, Eli stepped in front and grabbed my out stretched hand glaring at the boy behind him. Not wanting to argue, he pulled me up on my feet and before I could protest he was carrying me down the hall we just came from. "Daniel?" I asked tilting my head back to see his face. He was tall but an inch shorter than Eli, his eyes were a dark emerald and his blonde hair hung loosely in his eyes. "Yes."
"Where's my mom?"
"Uh, she left." I nodded, "Good." I lifted my head to see over Eli's shoulder to try and get a good look at the boy who offered me some help. He had short brown hair, sparkling blue eyes, and a lean body that didn't match his baby face. "What's your name?" He looked over at me and blushed. A small growl came from Eli, so I slapped his chest with the back of my hand. "It's Alec." I smiled, "Nice to meet you both, I'm Emily."
"They know." I looked up at Eli who was staring down at me, his usual light grey eyes were now a shade darker, almost black. I didn't realize we had stopped in front of the room I had left earlier until I was being put down. "You two can leave, go patrol the border I don't want something like this happening to anyone else."
"Yes alpha."
Eli sat across from me as I sat down on the bed playing with a loose thread. "We should talk about everything, just not right now. I have the doctor coming to re-stich your wound."
"Do you promise to tell me everything?" I asked. His thumb stroked my cheek and then titled my head up. I got lost in his eyes which were back to the usual moonlight grey. I wanted to kiss Eli but I pulled away looking anywhere but at him, remembering what happened the last time. "I will never let something like that happen to you ever. It was my fault to begin with, I should not have left you back there. My wolf took over and I didn't want him to hurt you. You don't know how sorry I am Emily and I hope that you can forgive me for putting you in that situation."
I cupped his cheek, rubbing my thumb against his rough stubble, and without thinking of the consequences, I slapped him.
