Chapter 12
No one moved. My eyes swept over the field, everyone still had their heads bent down waiting for a command from their Alpha.
“Emily, get over here.”
Every head that was bent now whipped in my direction, their stares where one of confusion and humor for being called out by the Alpha. When I made no move to come towards him, he let out a growl, which I rolled my eyes at but it seemed to have an effect on everyone else.
“Get over here now!” I still didn’t move, I crossed my arms over my chest and stuck a hip out. I don’t get him, is he bipolar or something, one minute he’s all sweet and the next he’s demanding. In a weird way I thought it was hot, but my stubborn self wouldn’t have any of it.
“No.”
“No. No?” he said raising a brow. I shrugged and said, “Not until you say please.”
I watched as his fist clenched and his jaw tighten. I didn’t know why I was trying to get him mad knowing it’s only going to be worse later. Deciding to push his buttons, I took a few steps back, which only seemed to anger him more and at that I smirked. Before I knew it he was taking long powerful strides in my direction. When he reached me, we were nose to nose. With clenched teeth he griped my chin, “I don’t take orders from you.” He spat. I pulled my face away from and made a move to walk away from him when he grabbed my bad arm and yanked me back towards him.
I winced and looked up at him, guilt flashed through his eyes but was soon replaced with anger. “Where are you going?”
I yanked my arm away from him holding back a scream when I felt the stiches reopen. “Away from you.” Tears made their way down my face as I took the back porch steps two at a time. I walked through the kitchen not even sure where I was going, coming up on a set of stairs I went up them and walked to the furthest room down the hall. It didn’t seem to be enough to escape the pain I felt coursing through me. I made my way to the very top floor that look it was used more for storage. I opened the last door at the end and walked in, there wasn’t much in here except for a few boxes and a twin bed. I shut the door as quietly as I could and sat down on the bed letting the tears fall.
I took a deep breath, wiping away the tears and went in to the bathroom. I rested the palms of my hands on the edge of the sink before lifting my head. My eyes were bloodshot and had dark circles under them, my hair looked like I stuck my head out the window of a car going a hundred miles per hour. My eyes traveled down to what I was wearing. I felt a blush tint my cheeks as I realized I was still wearing the hospital gown. Those guys must have gotten quite a view. When my eyes reached the bandage at my shoulder I sighed. I started to unravel the wrap setting it aside on the counter and looking at the open wound. There was only a few stiches still holding the skin together. I grimaced and opened the medicine cabinet and grabbing the first aid kit.
I pulled the gown off and walked over to the shower and turned the water on waiting for it to warm up. In the mean time I grabbed the tweezers that were in the first aid kit and started pulling out the rest of the stiches, seeing no point if I’m just going to keep ripping them open. Blood dripped down my arm and covered my hand. When the steam started to cover the mirror I put the tweezers down and climbed in letting the water wash away today’s events.
I wanted to forget everything. I wanted to forget ever meeting Eli, that selfish jerk, I wanted to forget ever finding out he had a kid. I just wanted to forget. The water stung the opening in my shoulder. As I slid down the wall of the shower I watched the water run red with my blood down the drain. Tears sprung to my eyes, mixing with the water that fell. I rested my head against the wall, my body starting to feel dizzy and my eyes getting heavy until they shut completely. The bathroom door opened, I cracked one eye open and saw Violet standing there. I frowned slightly wondering why she would be up here of all places.
The next sound that game was a piercing scream coming from the little girl in the door way, and then the sound of several footsteps bounding up the stairs. The first person to walk in was Eli followed by Benjamin and an older woman. They looked around the room at the blood that covered the counter and the drops that trailed on the floor. They all stood there looking at me, I couldn’t help but frown at Eli being here. The first person to move was the older woman. She grabbed a towel from the closet in the bathroom and walked to the shower door, opening it and shutting the water off. She pulled me to my feet wrapping the towel around me and grabbing another to try and stop the bleeding.
“Eli, come help.” The woman’s voice was soft with a hint of panic. My eyes stayed glued to Eli the entire time. He didn’t even blink, like he was lost in his own world.
“Eli.” Nothing.
My vision blurred and my knees gave out from under me, my body falling forward. Arms caught me before everything faded out, a sense of déjà vu happening.
