Snapping into the world again.
Hello precious phone.
After hearing his first name, I am literally forcing myself not to pee.
"Bohemian Light? Your parents must have really hated you," I chuckle. Ah, there's that scowl.
'Stop it. You may not have killed his friend, but he thinks you did'. Alice's warning comes too late.
I am sick and tired of being told what I've done, let alone what I should do.
"So, back to my questions. You know, the important ones. Things got out of hand, did they? Yeah right. You became their lab rat," I say. He stiffens.
"It was for the greater good. They were trying to cure brain diseases, neural defects". Every word out of his mouth makes me want to vomit.
"They used you. Curing diseases? I don't think so. You have read those files, haven't you? You know that isn't true". I have no idea what's really in those files either, but a little bit of grandstanding never hurt anyone, and it seems to work. Light's façade begins to fray.
"You handed them back without a second thought," I conclude. "Good little lap-dog".
They used him like they used me, pretending it was for the 'greater good'. My screams weren't for the greater good of anyone. Still, he must be sceptical of their motives if he hasn't told them about his other self.
"You don't want the Janus Foundation to know about you. Neither do I. So, if you keep quiet, I'll keep quiet, and everyone's happy". Dr. Light crosses his legs, that smarmy confidence having so eagerly returned.
He thinks he's the one with the power.
He has been tragically misinformed.
"You don't have any proof to keep me quiet," he says. Here it comes. The big stinger. I'm so excited I could wet myself. But I won't. I might though.
'Don't Alyssa. Please, don't'. Unclenching our beyond sweaty palm, I hold up the thick strand of hair. Black not blonde-white.
Dr. Light's face twitches.
"That could be anybody's," he starts, but I'm one step ahead.
"The Janus Foundation love tests. How many do you think they'll do on this hair to find the truth?"
Is he willing to bet his life? His freedom? I never understood before, why he worked for them. Now I do: fear. Fear and control.
With a grin, I hop off the couch, pressing the phone to my ear.
"Are you going to tell me what I want to know?" I ask.
'Stop it!' she screams. Dr. Light leans forward, an air of defiance swathing around him. A robe of arrogance for a King about to fall.
"You'll have to kill me like you did everyone else".
I can't wait any longer.
I drop the phone, swing my fist and punch him in the face.
