Harry and Luna find themselves walking towards Central Park. She lets herself grab onto his arm and it's only because there are a lot of people in the streets. Or is it because she just wants to touch him?
"My God, that was... What does he see in her?" She asks. "Every time I see her, they are fighting. Why is she so angry?"
"To tell you the truth, I think it's because of you." He looks at Luna. "The plan was always for Madison to move in with Zavier after I moved out. Something must have happened for them not to move in together."
"And I am a walking reminder of what happened. Oh... See, nothing like this happens in Iowa." She shrugs.
They make it to the park and Harry notices Luna looking at the hot dog cart. "Are you hungry? Would you like a hotdog?"
Luna licks her lip. "Yeah, but I forgot my purse while trying to run the hell away."
Harry chuckles. "It's on me... C'mon." He absentmindedly takes her hand to lead her to the cart. He lets her hand go when he orders the food and pays the man.
They have a hotdog in one hand and bottled water in the other as they walk into the park to find a place to eat. To walk further into the park to sit by the fountain would be insane. It was too far in the large park so they settled for a bench. The bench had a lovely view of the pond.
Luna is first to take a large bite of her hotdog. She hums. "My first New York hotdog..." she covers her mouth. "I don't even like hotdogs."
Harry laughs and looks at her. "Me either... but I'm starving." He takes a bite from his own hotdog and chews through it.
Luna watches him chew and laughs. "I know, it's bad! I'm sorry..."
"It's okay... I've had worse."
Luna looks at her hotdog and thinks to herself for a moment. "If you don't mind me asking... What was that all about back there?"
Harry knew she would ask. Part of him had hoped she would. It would give him a chance to vent. A chance to let it out and be heard.
But he didn't know where to start.
"You don't have to answer," she says when Harry doesn't say anything.
"Sorry, I was just trying to figure out what to say. Um, I guess it's clear that Madison hates me." He starts.
Luna grins a little. "She hates me, too."
Harry looks into her eyes and it makes him feel better. "She used to be my very good friend actually. I met her through Zavier. She was very much his girlfriend when I first moved in. They were so happy."
Luna listens.
"Madison, she had her own roommate at the time. She's her best friend. Her name's Kristen. I also met her through them and well, I..."
"Fell in love?"
Harry looks away. He sees a duck in the pond and watches it. "Yeah... madly." He sighs.
"What happened?"
"I proposed to her. We started to plan a life together... but I was a fool in the end." He hadn't realized just how much it still stings to talk about. "She was fucking her ex in a bed that was supposed to be ours."
Luna feels sick. She could feel his sadness and it was a lot. "Are you serious? I mean, how did you find out?"
"I walked in on them." He finally looks at her again. He sees Luna frown.
She goes from sick to angry quickly. "What the fuck? I mean, I'm so sorry, Harry. That's... shit, I don't know what I would've done." She shakes her head. "That's why I don't do the whole love thing. Everyone just gets hurt in the end."
Harry nods. He agrees with her.
"And that's why you left Zavier's?"
Their hotdogs were getting cold. It was becoming colder in New York by the minute. Harry turns his attention back to Luna and nods. "Madison and Kristen tried to convince me to stay, forgive, and all that crap. I just couldn't... And I went to Zavier's today to maybe talk it out. I don't know, Zavier was my very first friend here. He became my best mate and I just thought he would be there for me... after all that. He just wasn't so I moved."
"Oh." Luna sighs. "I have to admit, I didn't think I would see you again."
"I didn't think I would see you again, either."
They laugh. Luna opens up her water bottle to take a sip. "I had fun last night. The highlight of my time here in New York. Just thought I'd put it out there."
Harry feels some sort of relief. He sits back against the bench as he's reminded of their late-night activity. He grins. "Oh, you definitely know how to put out."
Luna gasps and nudges him. "That's not what I said or meant!" She rolls her eyes and begins to shiver slightly.
Harry looks at her legs. The girl walked out of her flat with what was most likely pajama shorts, a jean jacket, and no purse just to rescue him. He looks into her eyes again. "You're something, Luna."
Luna is quiet. Is she blushing? Harry can't tell since it's getting dark out.
"We should get you somewhere warm..." He tells her.
"Ugh, yes, please. I'm freezing."

Instead of a cab, they take the subway. Luna wanted the full New York experience and she got it. Despite the many moments she had witnessed unnatural behavior, she liked it.
Luna decided she didn't want to go home. She didn't want to walk in through a screaming match and be dragged in. Harry didn't want to have to walk her to her flat and possibly see Madison again. So they make it to Harry's flat once again.
They're running. Running away from the cold to get into a warmer setting. The moment they run into the flat, it's empty. Levi is not home. Harry and Luna go to his bedroom. Luna is smirking from the memories in her head. She brushes them off and gets under his blanket after kicking off her shoes. "Oh god," she says the moment she feels warm.
Harry joins her and laughs. He feels warm as well. They slowly face each other. Her nose is a little red.
"Do you miss your home?" Luna asks.
"I miss my mum, my sister... Lately, yeah I've been missing home."
Luna smiles from his answer. "I have a brother... I miss him. It's only been a week, but it feels like forever."
"How old is he?"
"Fifteen. He's young."
"I don't even know how old you are..."
Luna giggles. "Are you asking? If you are, I'm twenty-four. You?"
"Twenty-five," Harry answers, but he's staring at her lips. He doesn't let her say anything else, because he leans in. He kisses Luna.
It takes a second before Luna kisses him back. But when she does, she's kissing him deeply. Her hand finds the back of his neck as she's kissing soft lips.
