I'm sitting there just listening to Sally trying to silently while making her way through the vent. There were yelling and shouting, couldn't really tell if it was the guards or Sally's team, but they were covering her movements decently well. Every so often I would call out directions.
"How much farther until I get to Madi's room?" Sally's voice broke through my com.
"Just take this next right and go 15 feet then there will be two vents. One will be right in front of you, that leads down to the hallway where the four guards are then there will be one to your right, that goes down to Madison's room. Try to be as quiet as possible," I say then hear Sally let out a scoff.
"Yeah, I'll try to be quiet in this giant flimsy metal vent." Sarcasm drips from her voice.
"Unnessacery but true," I answer back.
Silence shifts between us as she continues her way towards Madi. We are so close to getting her back safely but I have to keep focusing on what is happening right now.
"Travis says they have secured the entry way, back up is on it's way but there is still a lot of fighting." Clarabell gives me the update from Travis.
"Tell him what's happening and have him get to the cell as fast as possible. Sally is gonna need help once she has gotten to Madison."
While I can hear Clarabell relaying all that through her com, Sally speaks up on mine.
"I'm at the vents. Peaking through the hallway vent, I can make out those four guards you were talking about. They seem to be on high alert. I'm not sure how I can make it into Madison's room without making a bunch of noise."
"Have Madison cover it up somehow once you are in. Like her banging on the door or something."
"Right, okay."
Through the com, I can hear Sally begin to remove the vent cover, it's pretty loud with it's metallic scrapping noise but I hear the thud of her boots hitting the floor.
"Bang on the door and yell at them," Sally whispers to Madison.
Even with her banging on the door and yelling with a crackling, croaked voice, it's a relief to hear her again. To know that she is still here and that we can bring her back. It's hard not being able to see what's happening, just hearing. The guards are yelling back at her to shut up.
But the worst sounds...
are gunfire with Madison's screaming overlapping.
"I got you Madi. I got you. Put this on." Sally's voice is soft as she speaks to Madison as another com is added to our link. "Jonathan, Madi is on com." She says after a moment.
"Madison, the gunfire must be Travis to come help you guys. Just hold out for a little longer." I can feel my hands shaking as I hear Madison's sobs.
"I just want to go home. I want to be back on campus with you, the twins, the girls, and my brother. I don't want to feel this pain anymore. Please." Her ramblings are lost in her tears and I can feel my own slipping down my cheeks.
"That's what we are doing." The gunfire ceases. "Sally, see if you can get out of the door or figure out a way to get out just incase it isn't Travis on the other side."
"Two steps ahead of you. Come on Madi. Just keep a hold of this strap."
"Samantha has been trying to break through all my walls but I've been able to keep her out. She's clever though. Nathanial has also been trying but he's not as good."
