Luke.

Michael, Calum, Ashton and I all stood in the attending's lounge, drinking coffee and debating what we would cook for dinner before we were all paged to a conference room.

We sat in chairs along with the other attending's from different departments and our own before the chief of surgery entered with a few men and women in suits.

"Good evening, thank you for making it to this last minute meeting." The Chief spoke to us.

"These are men and women from social services, in about ten minutes we will have twenty five girls arriving stacked in ambulances, they've been recently found at a sex trafficking home." She spoke, making us all immediately know- we were in for a long day.

"These girls have been raped, abused, mistreated and other circumstances that we don't even know. They need to be treated with empathy and slowly, they will be scared and not trusting. We will release the names we recover for families to find, but we are expecting it to take a few days before we are able to contact all parents and guardians." He told us slowly.

"The paramedics have informed us that there are no critical patients, all are stable but there are some serious injuries such as lacerations, dehydration, toxic shock syndrome and infections." He spoke.

"Gynecology." He spoke, looking to Ashton die to him being head of the department.

"Be ready, every girl raped will be receiving a pelvic exam, you may have to sedate them, but it is for their own good." He told them.

"But they should be arriving in minutes, everyone gets one patient, some do not have gurneys, but you should all have one girl- I have the exact number of attending's."

So we left.

I stood to the back, getting my gloves and gown ready.

I watched several ambulances arriving, the doors swinging open- filled with girls.

"Jesus" I mumbled, watching each doctor run and claim a girl.

I waited for everything to slow down before running to the last ambulance, seeing no one left.

Everyone should get one.

I looked around seeing no one.

"Chief, theres one less" I told him as he held a small girl in his arms, her face hidden into his shoulder.

"No Hemmings, theres twenty five attending's and girls exactly, check the other ambulances."

So I did as said.

I went to each one, looking in.

As I got to the very last ambulance, I almost gave up before something in the corner caught my eye.

A small person, sitting on the floor, knees tucked to her body, head to her knees.

"Sweetheart"
