"You are normal, angel- this is something good. You deserve to be celebrated" I spoke to her slowly.I played with her hands as I opened the car door for her, letting her in, where I shut the door, going to the drivers side.
"Alexis, talk to us, pretty girl" michael spoke slowly.
"I don't know what you want me to say" she mumbled slowly.
"We don't want you to say anything specific at all, explain to us what you're feeling." He spoke.
"I just- don't like attention- at all. I know if I'm put in college, it'll be hard and people will talk about me because I'm sixteen and a lot of people will find out that I was in a second trafficking system and I'll actually have to go in person, which I don't think I like the thought of-" she was speaking at too fast of a rate for us to even understand.
"Slow down" I spoke calmly.
"First off, you don't have to do anything that you don't want to." I spoke.
"If you want to go to highschool and be in the grade you're supposed to be in, you can- we just have to get you into some advanced courses so that you're continued to be pushed. But if you want to do the same thing, but online- that's also an option." I spoke slowly.
"If you want to go to college- you don't have to go in person. You can go online and no one will ever care." I continued.
"But princess, you're going to eventually come into contact with people that know who you are." I spoke, and I saw her head instantly pop up, making eye contact with me through the rear view mirror.
It was true
Every victim of the house was on the news due to trying to locate families.
News stations, magazines, tv shows, late night shows and many more people were constantly calling myself, the guys and the hospital for an interview with Alexis- they wanted her story.
But we were not exposing her like that.
"How do people know me?" She spoke slowly.
"Every victims name and picture was released to the public to assist in finding families." Michael told her slowly for me.
"So someone can google my name and the fact that I was raped for eleven years will come up?" She spoke slowly.
"There's not that many details, it's just-" "just that I was in a sex trafficking system." She mumbled.
We didn't speak back
"So I'm truly never going to get away from this?" I heard her voice crack.
"Princess, you are away from it. That is in the past-" "but everyone is going to know" her voice cracked again.
"No" I spoke firmly.
"I'll google everything and figure out every website you're on and I'll get them to take it down. You'll never have to worry about anyone finding out. It'll be your story, you can choose to tell who you want to tell."
