"When is Kara leaving?" She asked me as we walked past her room, seeing her light was on- but her door was shut.

"Probably in about an hour, she has an early flight home" I told her calmly.

Just as I felt Alexis grab my arm, an intern ran up to me.

"Doctor Hemmings, Doctor Charolette is in OR 3 and needs assistance which a skin flap- his patient won't stop coding" he panicked to me.

I immediately looked to Alexis.

I can't leave her.

"Go, Luke" she spoke, surprising me.

"Y-you're okay with me going?" I asked her.

"It sounds like if you don't go, someone is going to die- I won't die while you're gone- just go."

I didn't want to leave her.

But I didn't want to be responsible for someone dying either

So I hugged her quickly before running her to her room, making sure she went in it before I left her.

"I want you to check on her every ten minutes." I spat to an intern as I scrubbed in.

Alexis.

I shut my room door, glancing to the empty room.

No one is going to come in and get me.

I'm in a safe hospital- everything will be okay.

I tried to lay in my bed and sleep again- but I couldn't.

I needed to block the door.

After trying to move multiple things to block the door, I realized one thing- I was weak.

It was a struggle to drag a chair.

So I simply just laid in front of the door.

My body would stop anyone from coming in.

And before I knew it- I was asleep.

I woke up to something colliding with my head- instantly causing pain to break through my head.

"Ouch- fuck" I cursed, hearing a gasp

"Alexis- why the hell were you laying on the floor?" The intern that stole Luke from me spoke quickly to me, crouching a little too close for my comfort.

"Back up- get Luke" I spoke through tears as I held my head, trying not to cry.

"Luke can't leave surgery- let me check your-" his hands held my face and it's almost as if I had a flashback.

To one of the six guys- this ones name was Rick.

He would always hold my face in this hands, call me beautiful, force me to kiss him and compliment him back.

But one day I turned my head away from him when he went to kiss me- and I swear he almost broke my neck from the amount of force he shoved my head away from him with.

And then the continued to hold my face as he hit me, kicked me and told me that I was absolutely worthless.

Mark- the intern.

As I held her face she instantly put a hand up between the two of us, turning her head from me as I saw her breathing pattern completely change.

"Rick- please don't" she cried out to me.

"Alexis- it's Mark, I'm an intern" I told her calmly.

I saw her body flinch as I moved my hand to try and touch her.

Her breathing was erratic, she was almost frozen in place and she couldn't speak.

"Alexis- I'm not going to hurt you-" "Luke," she whispered.

I needed to look at her head.

"Alexis- I'm just going to touch your head-" "no- stop- stop!" She screamed and I gently pushed her hands away.

I could already see her eyes were reacting to light slow.

"You probably have a concussion- I'm not going to hurt you, just think of me as Luke" I tried to convince her, knowing that she let Luke treat her without any complaint.

"Stop!" She screamed and suddenly I felt someone grab me, jerking me away from her.

"What the fuck do you not understand about the word stop?" Doctor Hood, the head of the general surgery department asked me.

"She has a concussion from the door hitting her in the head-" "she is one of the sex trafficking victims- are you aware of that?" He spat to me.

"I was, but at some point her well being has to take over-"

Alexis.

I was able to stand- immediately getting a dizzy spell.

I needed a corner

Corners made me comfortable when I didn't have anywhere else to go.

I found the tightest corner between the couch and the wall, sitting in it and focusing on breathing.

I could hear the two doctors arguing outside and I watched the roof move.

"I need Luke."
