"Promise?" She asked.I stuck my pinky out to her
I saw the smallest smile come onto her face
She wrapped her pinky around mine.
Within ten minutes, she was asleep.
And I stayed right where I was.
I googled the name of her uncle, not finding much.
And then, a therapist came in.
"Oh- I was scheduled to come talk to her at this time-" "she's got a lot of medicine in her system, she probably won't wake up for hours-"
She woke up, almost instantly sitting up once she saw the new body.
"Relax." I calmly told her.
"I'm doctor Myers, I'm a therapist and I'm here to talk to you-" "I don't want to talk." She spoke quietly.
"You need to talk, I've heard a lot of stories about you through the other girls- I believe you need help-" "Luke can help me." She spoke simply.
I loved that she almost trusted me.
I didn't have a lot of her trust, but I had more than others.
"Luke isn't as qualified as me when it comes to therapy and -" "I don't like talking to anyone but Luke" she almost whispered, looking away from him.
Myers looked to me.
"A word outside." He spoke.
"I'll be right back, I'm stepping right outside the door." I whispered to her, seeing her nod.
"Do you realize what you just fucking did?" He immediately whispered to me.
"Chill out-" "Luke you should've called me the second that she said she had been in the system for eleven years- since she was five!" He yelled.
"She doesn't trust anyone, Myers-" "it's my job to make her trust me!" He spoke quickly.
I stared to him.
"But now shes attached to you, do you understand what that means?" He spoke to me.
"Tell me" I spoke back with a pure attitude.
"That means she's going to want you every second of the day. She isn't going to trust any doctor unless you're there to tell her it's okay. You are her safety blanket now- the only reason she isn't having mental breakdowns from fear is because she's trusting that you'll keep her safe, how are you going to juggle being her safety blanket, having other patients, surgery and have time for yourself?" He spat to me.
"I'll figure it out."
So he left, and I returned into her room, seeing her sleeping again.
I exhaled, sitting down, looking to her small body.
How could someone do the things they did to her?
She just looks so innocent, so tired, so hurt.
I just wanted to hug her
And promise her that it was all over
Because it was
And I'll be sure it never happens again.
