Chapter 6 - Here For You...

After dinner was done, Y/n was doing the dishes while Tsukishima helped in cleaning the table. They both wished each other good night before going to their bedrooms. 

2 hours passed and Y/n couldn't fall asleep. She slowly walked out of her room and peeked in Tsukishima's room to see if he was asleep and he was. She planned on sitting by the steps of the front door and she knew he would get mad if he knew.

Y/n slowly opened the door and stepped out, sitting on the steps as she looked up at the sky, leaning her head on the door frame. She sighed and spaced out thinking about the times she was happy with her family, then glanced over at Tsukishima's home, thinking of ways to answer their questions if they find out.

Meanwhile, Tsukishima woke up and went over to check on Y/n if she was asleep, like how he always did ever since he moved in. 

"It would be troublesome for me to hear you nag if you ever get scared of the dark and stay awake." was what he told her when she found him checking on her the other night.

He hates to admit that he cared for her, and he thought it would come off as odd had he said that he was checking on her since he cared for her, although he still denies the fact that he cares for her.

After seeing that she wasn't in her room, he looked around everywhere at home for her and silently panicked as she was nowhere to be found.

He checked the bathroom too and felt his heart drop when he saw no one was in there either.

'Did that bastard really took her away this time?' His mind was fleeting with worried thoughts until he saw the front door ajar and rushed towards it to find Y/n sitting by the steps.

"What are you doing here at this time?!" He panted and sat beside her, placing his hand on his chest as he heaved a sigh of relief.

"I couldn't sleep." she told while her eyes were still fixed on the night sky.

"And nag about being sleepy tomorrow in the morning." He huffed and looked away.

"Kei..." she whispered and looked down, while he looked at her after hearing his name.

"I can't keep quiet forever. Your parents will find me out soon. And your brother too. What am I to say then?"

"Well, I did tell them I'm living here for a while since we got in touch again and you told me to clean the place up since you were on your way here for a trip. I'm surprised they bought it." He shrugged.

She scoffed slightly. "You know that's not what I mean-"

"But whatever will happen, I'm going to be here for you." He cut her off while looking ahead of him, not meeting her eyes.

There was a moment of silence after he said that and Y/n was silently crying tears of happiness, feeling the warmth from someone who cares, something that she didn't feel for a long time.

"I'll support you so you don't have to face them alone." He smiled sweetly and looked at her, frowning when he saw her in tears.

"Why do you cry?" He asked

"I never knew I would have someone care for me again after the past 2 years." she sniffed and rubbed her nose.

"I-I don't!" he denied and looked away a little flustered. "I just think it's good to have a calm environment rather than a dense and dull one since you'll be depressed all the time." He said, trying to cover up his words from earlier.

She chuckled and looked at her hands. "If only we talked as often like we do now back when we were kids.."

"We definitely could if you didn't cry everytime I called you a crybaby."

"Well...well that was because you were rude!!" she huffed while he smirked and flicked her head before standing up. 

"Let's go, we got a test tomorrow."

[The next day]

"Hey. What are you gonna do when Ryuichi shows up again?" Y/n asked Tsukishima as they were on their way to school.

"I'll keep you close." He said abruptly.

"Huh..?"

"I did tell him yesterday that you are my girl so I have to play the part." He said casually while she blushed a little. 

They entered the school gate together when Y/n walked a little behind him. He walked ahead without noticing, only realizing that she was nowhere beside him.

"Hey! Don't lag behind. Pick your pace up else I'll leave you and go on ahead." He said coldly.

"It's ok. You can go on. I don't want anyone else to think that we're together or anything by us being beside each other all the time." she said shyly with an awkward chuckle.

He slightly glared at her before holding her hand and pulling her, making his way through their class.

"It ain't our fault if we live in the same neighborhood and in the same class." 

As they made their way through their class, everyone stared at them as they saw them holding hands. Tsukishima seemed to like the attention and smirked a little as he walked on ahead, squeezing Y/n's hand a little, although she just looked around being her weird self from all the attention.

They entered the classroom and Tsukishima let go off her hand as Yamaguchi went over to them.

"Y/n!!" He called out to her happily but frowned at Tsukishima.

"Hey Tsukki... why were you holding her hand?" Tsukishima waited for her to go to her seat before looking at Yamaguchi.

"Just because. I'm sure it's not a big deal." He shrugged as he went to his seat.

"It is a big deal!" He followed him. "You know that I li- I mean many guys like her." He huffed slightly, sitting on his seat beside Tsukishima.

"Well, good for them." Tsukishima shrugged and took his book out of his bag.

During the lunch break, Hinata and Kageyama rushed in, asking Tsukishima to help them learn, while Tsukishima wore his headphones.

"Come to me only during business hours." He said coldly and closed his eyes to listen to the music.

Hinata and Kageyama looked annoyed so Y/n looked at them with a smile and called them over.

"I'll help you guys out." She said and looked at them as they sat across her.

Before she could start, Yamaguchi came over. 

"Is it okay if you teach me too?" He asked with a tint of red on his cheeks.

"Oi Yamaguchi, you're doing fine, why would you wanna study more?" Tsukishima pointed out while his eyes were still closed.

"B-because why not? I want to get better." He scoffed and sat beside Y/n. 

"U-umm... i think it's better if you all come over my place this weekend to study instead. What do you think?" she suggested and they all agreed happily.

Before Hinata and Kageyama left the class, Kageyama went over to Y/n and took out a box of milk from his bag, placing it on her table.

"This was for last week, you bought me one since I didn't have any change back then." He said before blushing and walking out the classroom as she looked at him and smiled.

Tsukishima glanced at her smiling after being given a box of milk and looked out the window, resting his chin on the back of his hand.
