twenty; i hate feet
I stepped out of my car to go get my coffee and Spencer when a man walked in front of me. I jumped and looked up at the familiar face. "Shaw, what the hell!" I shrieked looking at him and smirked. "I'm sorry, luv." He said and I rolled my eyes and slammed my car door. I punched his chest and he looked down, not bothered by the punch.
"What was that for?" He asked and I clenched my jaw and began walking to the shop. " 1, for scaring me. 2, because you told me that you knew Matt Bennet." I said and he began walking next to me, matching my fast pace. "I do." He said and I laughed. "So you knew he was working for Ian Doyle?" I asked keeping my head forward and he grabbed my arm, spinning me around.
"What did you just say?" He asked and I looked him in the eyes. "Matt is working for Ian. He was the one calling me on the unknown number." I said and he raised his eyebrows and swore. "What?" I asked and he looked into my eyes. "I have to call Abigail. Tell her what's going on." He said and then began walking away. I threw my hands up, my white blazer moving along with me. I sighed and clenched my jaw.
I walked into the briefing room and set the coffee down where Spencer was sitting. "How was Ellie when you brought her to Rossi's?" I asked and he nodded and gave me a smile. "She was fine. We have that meeting tomorrow at 2. Hotch said we can go, I told him we'd be an hour. Ellie has practice today for soccer too." He said and I nodded and Penelope began speaking.
"Two D.C. homes torched, two families on the same night." Penelope said and I looked around the round table and I didn't see Anthony, Emily, Azalea or Maxsten.
"I managed to find an online article about the fires written by this guy, Jeff Hastings." She said and I looked down at my phone to see if Matt was texting me about something.
"Guys, I'm sorry we're late." Emily said as her and the three other agents came in to the room. I looked up at them and Anthony sat next to me.
"Are you guys okay?" Hotch asked and Emily nodded. "I picked them up. They don't have cars." She said and Hotch nodded. As everyone began talking about a new case I bent over to Anthony and spoke quietly.
"It's Matt. The unknown number was Matt." I said quietly and he whispered now, bending over to me. "I know, Emily told me this morning. You should have let me go with you." He said and I shook my head. "And have you get hurt? No." I said and Anthony glanced over at the board where the pictures were being shown of the burned houses.
"Hadley, you have a daughter. What would have happened if he did something?" He asked whispering harshly and I sighed, and then Hotch stood up and looked at everyone. "If he wants to strike again he's got 72 hours before the storm shuts the city down." Hotch said and we all nodded.
I got up and I walked out behind Anthony, and we both walked into our shared office. "We should tell Spencer." He said and I shook my head. "No! Are you crazy?!" I hissed and he threw his hands up.
