Back in her flat, (Y/N) fussed over her little boy, making sure he wasn't hurt. She still couldn't believe those two. She knew John was a sucker for dangerous things; her partner had mentioned it many times during their early years in the army with him. She just didn't think he'd actually have the guts to do what he did.
Yet, she couldn't find herself to be mad at him. She was mostly angry with Sherlock.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Elliot spoke up. "Mommy, are you upset with Lock?"
He had always been so inquisitive. She heaved a sigh and nodded. "Yes baby, mommy is mad with Sherlock."
"I wanted to go with Lock." his confession was so nonchalant.
(Y/N) paused in her tracks. Elliot...had wanted to go with him? She almost couldn't believe it, but her gut feeling was telling her that it was the truth. She couldn't bring herself to say anything, so instead, Elliot moved topics. "When can I see Lock and Uncle John again, mommy?"
Elliot had only spent a day with Sherlock, and already she could tell he admired the detective so much. She didn't know when she would be comfortable with it again, but her darling boy gave her those puppy dog eyes, and she knew she couldn't say no.
"We'll talk to them in the morning, sweet pea. Now, go get ready for bathtime."

Similarly up in 221b, John was reeling into Sherlock.
He didn't want to because he had reluctantly agreed to go, but he couldn't help himself by taking it all out on the one person who suggested the three of them go.
"I can't believe I listened to you, Sherlock!" he was fuming. "(Y/N) and Elliot are one of the few people in my life with a connection to my old army partner, and you've gone and pushed them away!"
John could never really be mad at Sherlock. He was just frustrated because over time, he had started to really like (Y/N). He liked her a lot. Her partner had even told him that if they died, they wanted John to be there for her, and to be Elliot's father.
And Sherlock had gone and thrown it all down the drain.
John's scolding started to calm down as he sighed, fighting his own tears. "I've told you how much I liked her, Sherlock. How it was still too soon to say anything because she's still grieving." he took a deep breath to try and not cry. "And now she's probably out of my life for good." he shook his head in disbelief.
Sherlock plucked one of his violin strings, unfazed. "Don't worry, she'll be back tomorrow."
John halted his steps. "What?"
"She'll be back." Sherlock furrowed his eyebrows. "You've seen the way her child looks at me, John. They'll be back in the morning."
"How do you know that for sure?"
A smirk tugged on his lips. "Something tells me that someone just can't say no to her little boy."
John bit his lip, hoping he was right, before heading off down the hallway for the night.
Had to fuck it up before I let you get to know me

A.N: Hi guys! I apologize that this chapter is so short; this one and the next are fillers before the action comes in the next chapter are so. It's mainly to establish relationships and get a peek into John's feelings and to watch how Sherlock is growing with his own feelings. A similar theme will follow in the chapters to come.
One of my favorite things to do is write Sherlock growing as a human being, so I hope I'm doing him justice by doing so.
Thank you all for reading C A L M thus far!
