I sit in my mom's bedroom, reading her Romeo and Juliet. It has always been her favourite book, even though I have never actually read it all the way through. It's actually really good. I finish the chapter and put down the book on her bedside table. I smile down at her sadly and walk out to the living room, seeing dad and Jellybean playing a quiet game of UNO. I walk into the kitchen and jump when I see Archie and Betty standing in the kitchen having a hushed conversation.
"Hey, Jughead, " Betty said with a light smile.
"Hi, what are you doing here? I thought you only came on Fridays."
"I, I actually came with Archie."
"Oh, well, it's good to see you again. Hey, Archie."
He looks away and Betty rubs his arm. My eyes linger on her hand before she finally pulls away. For some reason her touching him tugs at my heart. "Archie just came to say hi to your mom."
    "Oh, um, she's asleep."
"I'll come back later, " Archie told Betty.
"You don't have to go, " I tell him.
He pushes past me and walks out. Betty sighs and rubs my arm soothingly. "Are you okay?" She asked.
"I don't know. It's weird. I mean, I've seen all of my old friends and most of them don't really like me that much."
    "No, with your mom."
"Oh, I guess it just doesn't feel real."
"I know how you feel." She sighs.
    "You do?"
She nods. "A similar thing  happened with my mom a few years ago."
    "Are you okay?" I ask.
    "I'm not important."
    "You're important to me."
    She smiles at me.
    "Hey, Betts?"
    "Yeah, Juggie?"
"Do you want to go out?"
    "Like...on a date?"
"Yeah, like a date. Right now, at pops."
    "Oh, I would, totally, but."
"But you don't like me anymore?"
    "Well...no, I just, I'm dating Archie."
    "Oh...Archie. Really?"
"Yeah, we got back in touch recently and we started going out, I'm sorry."
"No, that's great. I remember how much he liked you when we were younger."
She smiles at me. "Yeah, I wasn't really paying much attention to him. I guess that's why it was easier for me to forgive you, because I did the same thing to Archie with worse consequences."
"Betty, let's go, " Archie yelled from the other side of the house.
"I should go, but it was nice seeing you again."
"Yeah, I look forward to your next visit, " I say as she walks away.
