Felix's POV:

"How could you lose him?" A hiss slips past my bared teeth as I snap at the twins.

"We are so sorry, Felix. I did not even feel him leave my grasp!" Yug eyes are wide and desperation clings to his voice.

"Of course you did not. You two can sleep through anything. I do not understand why you decided to rest when you know this!"

"H-He was so calm and relaxed. I thought maybe a quick nap would be okay." Yug's clawed hands tugs at his silky, yellow hair as a quiet whine leaves his lips.

Yash's movements can barely be heard behind us. The occasional snap of a twig is the only indication that he is still following. He is most likely falling behind in fear of punishment. He is right to be scared. If my father finds out they lost Lucas they will both be punished and so will I.

"Quiet! Just help me find him."

Yug's fingers release the tight grip they had on his hair, letting the yellow strands fall back into their resting spot on his shoulder. His head bobs in a nod as shaky breaths fill his lungs. His body loses a bit of its tenseness as he taps his fingers against his left arm.

As we enter my father's and I's cave the search for Lucas begins. His name echoes in the cave as it slips past our lips but we never get an answer.

"Maybe he is at the meadows. He really enjoyed it earlier," I say scratching my head, in thought.

"Then we shall check there," Yug says. His tail works quickly, bringing him to the entrance of the cave.

Yug abruptly stops and his breath catches in his throat.

"A-Alpha Niko!" Yug slowly drags himself backward as my father towers heads above him. Yug's body shrinks as my father slowly approaches his shrinking form.

"What is going on? You boys smell guilty," my father is looking us over while slowly slithering into the cave.

He stops in front of me and I have to take a deep breath to not freak out.

    "Where is the human?"

"I left him with Ender," I say with fake confidence in my voice.

"Great! Go get him."

"W-What?" My voice wavers.

"Was I not clear enough?" My father says tilting his head a little. "Go get the human and bring him here."

I look behind him at Yash and Yug, but they are both bowing their heads in submission and respect.

I internally growl.

"Why is that necessary, father?" I say trying to keep contact with his glowing golden orbs.

"Are you questioning me, Felix?" He hisses a little with every word.

I flinch and force myself not to bow my head. It is an instinct for us to bow to someone with more authority than ourselves. My father hated when I used to bow to him. It showed weakness and that I would not be able to be the future alpha.

"No! Do you not have important things to do? I can take care of Lucas."

"I trust that you can take care of the human, but I want to see him."

His eyes show a look of knowing, and I cannot help but break eye contact.

He knows! He knows! He knows!
