Felix's POV:
"I am so sorry. This place is a mess. I didn't know I was going to have visitors," the naga looks a little panicked and embarrassed. His pale cheeks tint crimson red.
He looks me over carefully and his eyes almost bulge out of his head. His eyes linger on my golden scales before he looks up at me. "You're royalty too?! I am so sorry, sir. I swear if I kne-"
"That is enough. No need for all of that," I say. "Are all of these shifters yours?"
"Some of them are. Some are injured and stay with me 'til they're better."
"You do it all by yourself? That is impressive."
"Yeah. It gets hard sometimes, but I never give up. They need me!" He says with an adorable determined look.
I smile and nod in an understanding way.
Lucas' POV:
My jaw drops as I look around at all the shifters. The fox shifter gets off my back and grabs my hand. He pulls me away from Felix which immediately has me pulling away from him.
He looks at me with large pleading eyes. Reluctantly, I let him pull me away.
I'm pulled over to an empty nest where I'm pushed down. The shifter climbs in next to me and curls into my side. Before I relax I make sure Felix can see me.

I wake up to low growling. I look down at the shifter to see him baring his teeth and growling. I look to where he's looking and tense.
A shifter has my hand and is running it through its slimy beige hair. It's hands are squishy and also slimy. It has a large shell on it's back that it's beige body disappears into.
It lets out small coos and purrs as my small hand is forced to rub it's head. The snail shifter opens it's eyes and looks at me.
It feels like my heart stops in my chest as two eyestalks lift out of it's eye sockets. The large black orbs on top of the eyestalks look like they're moving. I can't tell if it's looking at me until it's eyestalks lean over my body and it reaches it's arms out, cooing.
My heart pumps faster than it ever has and my lungs rapidly take in and push out air. I let out a scream and jump out of the nest. I run away from it only to hear it's slimy body chasing after me while cooing.
I jump into Felix's open arms and bury my face into his neck. I wrap my arms around his neck that feels skinnier than usual. His skin is a bit colder and his smell is different.
Instead of his usual comforting earthy smell he smells fruity and like flowers but it's still comforting.
"I-I-it was chasing me! It's s-scary!" I cry out into his neck.
"He does look a bit weird doesn't he? I can assure you, he will not hurt you."
That's not Felix's voice.
I look up to see dark crimson eyes staring into my green ones. They don't hold disgust or a condescending look. They hold a special soft kindness that makes me comfortable with being in this stranger's arms.
"Aw, you poor thing," he says, wiping a tear from my cheek. I lean my head to the side as his palm cups my cheek. I rub my cheek into his hand and close my eyes. "He really did scare you didn't he?"
