Finding Mr. Right

Chapter 12

I looked at Rachel and Ethan and told them I would catch up to them in a few minutes. Caleb would need to be quick with what he wanted to tell me because I wasn't going to let him ruin my night. I wanted to get this conversation over with as soon as possible and move on as coworkers. We started to walk around but there was nothing but awkward silence. I finally looked up at Caleb and said, "I said five minutes, you have about two left now. So what is so important that you need to talk to me about anyway?"

Caleb then looked at me and stopped walking. "I'm really sorry for assuming that you were dating Rachel. I misunderstood the guys at work when they said you weren't dating any guys. I just thought that maybe they meant you were dating girls which lead me to believe that you and Rachel were a couple after seeing you all the first time we met. I was a complete idiot and I wish I could take it all back. I never meant to hurt you. And I don't intend on ruining your night with your friends. It's just hard being in a town where you have no one to talk to. And to top it off you were the only person who has been nice to me and I managed to ruin it by being a complete ass. I just hope you can forgive me someday."

I looked up at him and took a deep breath. He looked sincere and I was tired of being upset with him. I finally said, "We're good. Just don't let it happen again. Would you like to hang out with me and my friends tonight?"

His face lit up and he said without hesitation, "Hell ya. Let's do this festival thing."

We walked slowly and took our time finding Rachel and Ethan. We talked about all kinds of things and found out we had a lot of similar interest. We walked really close to each other and a couple of times our arms brushed past one other causing goosebumps to form all over my body and electrical shocks to erupt throughout my core. I wanted so badly to be with him but I didn't know how he felt about me. I could see him stealing glances at me but I wasn't sure if that meant he felt the same way I felt about him or if he was just being nice. We stopped walking again  and we turned towards each other. He looked at me and brushed a piece a hair that had fallen out of place away from my cheek and placed it behind my ear. I felt my cheeks getting flush and just as I thought he was about to kiss me I heard a voice say. "Well there you two are. We thought you all got lost." It was Ethan and he wasn't too happy about what he had just witnessed. 

Ethan grabbed my arm and said Rachel is over this way. I couldn't believe that he would do that in front of Caleb. Caleb quickly stepped in and said, "If Katherine wants to come with you she will. Please let go of her arm."

With that Ethan let go and stammered with a reply, "I...I didn't mean anything by it Katherine. You know I wouldn't do anything to hurt you."

As annoying as Ethan was I knew he didn't mean to be mean or rude. He was just extremely jealous of seeing me with Caleb. He wasn't use to other guys being around me. I needed to have a talk with him ASAP and let him know that I just liked him as a friend and nothing more. Maybe seeing me with Caleb may help to let it sink in that I am not interested in him like that and hopefully he can move on.

I looked at Ethan and said, " I know you didn't mean anything by it but, I was having a conversation with Caleb and I was making my way to you and Rachel so we all could hang out. There is no need to rescue me I'm fine."

I then turned to Caleb and winked. "So Caleb are you ready to hang out with me and my friends. You have just met Ethan and I don't believe you have ever gotten a chance to talk to Rachel yet. She can be a little protective so tread lightly."

We then made our way over to Rachel who was already in defense mode with her arms crossed and a sour expression on her face. This could be a long night after all if I couldn't get those two to get along. She was really angry and he would really need to win her over with his magical charm he won me over with.

I began with, "Rachel this is Caleb and Caleb this is my best friend Rachel."

Caleb put his hand out for Rachel to shake and she just looked at me until I gave her the side eye to shake it back.

Caleb said to Rachel, "It is nice to meet you. I have heard some really great things about you."

Rachel looked at him as if he were spouting off complete BS. She then said with sarcasm in her voice, "I bet you have."

All I could do was stand there helplessly hoping that this didn't get real ugly real fast. I needed them to get along because they both were gong to be in my life. If me and Caleb weren't going to date I still had to work with him everyday and I wanted to include him in some of the things we all did together. He was new to town and needed to have some friends to hang out with.

Rachel then looked at me and said, "So are you all ready to have some fun now? Because I am so ready."

I shook my head yes and we were off to enjoy all of the different rides, treats and booths that were set up. Caleb stayed by my side and I would look up at him from time to time and smile at him. He was so darn hot. As the night was winding down Caleb pulled me to the side and asked if just me and him could hang out tomorrow. I told him that would be nice and he said he would come and pick me up around 11:00 am. He then walked me to Rachel's car and I hugged Ethan and then I hugged Caleb. It felt so nice being in his arms he made my body ache for his touch. When he let go of me I felt empty and it seemed like something was missing. He made me feel whole and complete. I had never felt this was about anyone before and I never thought I would. I was a freaking hot mess. I didn't know if Caleb felt the same way about me and I didn't know if I could confide in him how I felt about him. I would wait and see what tomorrow would hold.
