I probably had the best sleep of my life last night. I had an amazing dream about my mom and it made me the happiest I had ever been. She may not be here physically but I knew she was here spiritually. I got out of bed and for the first time in a long time I actually made up my bed. I usually didn't care about making it up but today it felt really nice to have a tidy bed to come home to. I then went into the bathroom and took a really nice long hot shower which was something I hadn't done in a long time. Once out of the shower I dried off and put a pair of cut off jean shorts that hugged my booty just right and a crop top. I then paired it with a set of cute sparkly sandals. I did love a cute pair of sandals, some could say that was my weakness. I had easily over 50 pairs in my closet. I may have worked as a mechanic but I still liked to feel girly sometimes.
I went into the kitchen and there sat dad and Elizabeth eating breakfast. "Well hello there sunshine." Dad said with a great big smile on his face. "Where are you headed off to today?"
"I'm going to hang out with Caleb today and show him around town. Since he's new here and all." I tried not to blush as I said it but it was too late my cheeks were a bright pink.
"Well you two have fun today. I'm going to head to the shop and finish up some paperwork before Monday morning rolls around tomorrow." He said and then kissed me and Elizabeth on the forehead before heading out the door.
I then turned to Elizabeth and said, "What are your plans today?"
"Me and Maxine are going to hang out at her house with a few other friends." She looked over her cereal bowl and shrugged.
I looked back at her and said, "I really am glad you are back. I sure did miss you an awful lot."
Elizabeth got up from her seat and came over giving me the biggest possible hug ever and replied with, "I have missed you all too. I need to make it a point to come back home more often. Now that I have the hang of college life and all."
"That would be nice and you know that dad would really love to see you more. Heck maybe we could drive down and take a long weekend and see you sometime. Would that be something you would be up for?" I had no idea if she thought that would be a cringe thing to do with her being a young college girl trying to fit in and all. No one wants their big sis and dad ruining their weekend. But to my surprise she was on board with us coming to see her every once in a while.
I decided to sit in the living room and catch up on a few shows that I hadn't had a chance to watch, while waiting for Caleb to show up. Elizabeth had taken off to go hang with her friends and I was nervously anticipating Caleb's arrival. The longer I waited the more nervous I was becoming. I just wished that it was 11 o'clock already so he would be here. I kept looking at the clock and only a few minutes passed each time I looked up. This was absolute torture. Not to mention I had no idea what was going on in the show I was watching. I had become too distracted by looking at the time that I would have to catch up on them another day. It was finally getting closer and closer to time for him to get here. And then I heard his Jeep pull up. I turned off the TV as fast as I could and practically ran out the door. He looked like he was about to get out of the Jeep and when he saw me booking it towards him, he started to laugh.
"You aren't excite to see me are you?" He said with a sly smile and raised eyebrow.
"No, I was just getting really bored that's all. Everyone has left me all alone so it was pretty quiet in there." I tried not to show him just how excited I was to see him. He just shook his head like he didn't believe a word I was saying. It was written all over my face just how excited I was to spend the day with him. I buckled my seatbelt and pulled my hair into a ponytail so it wouldn't get too crazy from the wind blowing through it. I was excited to show Caleb around my town and the secret places that only I went to. It just felt right having him experience all of these things with me. I had never really felt a need to share them with anyone else, until now.
We took off down the road and Caleb pointed to a cooler in the back seat. "I hope you don't mind but I packed us a little something to eat? Is there somewhere we can go to enjoy this?" He looked at me questioning.
"Yes I have the perfect place to go." While shaking my head yes as I responded. I gave him directions to my favorite hang out spot for when I was feeling really sad or just needed to get away. I was the only one who ever went out there. I happened upon it one day right after mom passed away. I parked my car on the side of the road because I was crying so hard I couldn't see to drive anymore. I then ran as fast as I could through the wooded forest not knowing what I would end up coming across. I just kept running until I came upon a field with the most beautiful wildflowers growing everywhere. The sun was shining so bright making it the most magical place I had ever seen in my life. I felt as if my mom had sent me on this journey to show me that she was still here. She loved wildflowers and I felt like I was with her whenever I came out here. I later ran into the owner of the property and he said I could come anytime I wanted. I offered free mechanic services but he said that wouldn't be necessary. He was glad someone could enjoy this beautiful piece of land.
As we got closer I could see that Caleb was wondering where I was taking him. He didn't question me though, he just kept driving. There was a secret entrance that took you closer to the open field and that was what I wanted to show him. He parked his Jeep and we took off walking along the path. Caleb had the cooler and a blanket so we could enjoy the lunch he had prepared. As I walked ahead of him, I couldn't help but feel him staring at me the whole time. I felt goosebumps form all over my body and heat radiating all over me. He had this effect on me any time he was near me. I was falling for him and I hoped he felt the same way about me.
