Eddy was born with his soulmark carved on the right side of his waist.

His parents didn't really notice until he was 5 though, for the words was so small it was almost as if the soulmark was just an everyday baby birthmark.

It was when the words started to cleared up that his parents realize, that it was not just a birthmark.

not that they cared that much anyway.

Eddy's parents are not soulmates, and yet they still got to marry the love of their life and build their own happy little family without matching soulmarks.

sometimes eddy wonders about the whole point of the soulmark system. Why does the universe has to write everyone's soulmate on everyone, if it won't matter in the end anyway?

Not to mention that his soulmark was just as make sense as this whole soulmark system works.

His soulmark was just a tiny little line that says "sure, i guess" written in a scrawny handwritting on the right side of his waist.

right.  If the whole soulmark system was to gives someone clue about their lifelong partner then, well, they're not that much of help in eddy's case, thank you very much.

Not that Eddy was desperate or anything,  he was just curious with this whole soulmates bussiness.

why must everyone has at least one? why is the soulmark was written with the soulmate's handwritting?  what if the soulmate was blind and can't write? how come that some people's soulmate are the same gender as themself??  isn't that against the law of nature after all???

Anyway.

Eddy swing his legs mindlessly while he was waiting for his mum to pick him up from his first orchestra audition.
Eddy was 13, and his teacher was already recommended him to try for the audition to join in one of the most prestigious youth orchestra in the town,  much to his mum's delight.

he was pretty sure that he nailed all of the excerpts. He got nothing to be worried about.

One week later,  he received his acceptance letter from the Youth Orchestra.

Eddy's mum was so proud of him, said that with that much talent,  eddy would be a fine doctor for sure.

And then suddenly, out of nowhere,  his mum enrolled him in a math tutoring.

"your last math exam are dropping,  if you don't keep up your grades how can you be a doctor huuh?? " said his mum.

Eddy knew better than to object to this.  He knew that his mum would kung pao his chicken and mapo his tofu if he protest, so he agreed on the tutoring even though he knew that he'd still be fine without them.

At least his violin spoke beautifully,  his first audition gone well and he was accepted in the youth orchestra.

with a sigh he picked up on his violin and started to practice.
