*a/n* thank you for 5k reads! 🙏 this chapter is slightly NSFW :v

As the days bled into a week, Eddy had finally discharged from the hospital, his minor wounds all healed, only a few larger ones remain, like the one on his left arm, still tightly wrapped with bandage and all that troublesome stuff he needs to change every day. And of course, his legs will remain unused for the next two or three months, leaving him pretty much crippled in a wheelchair.

The thing with having a major incident was, once you're back to reality, your responsibilities piled up. Eddy had a lot to catch up on with his study during his sick-leave.

"I'm never gonna finish these essays, Emmerson's gonna kill me" Eddy groaned to the best friend of his life.

"Emmerson loves you. Don't worry, I'll help" Brett answered calmly as he opened up his MacBook, ready to help the younger with his papers.

"Never again" Eddy moaned, it's hard to type in a long time when your arms are still healing. Plus the stitches kinda itch. "Never again, I'll never drive alone when the sun's still not up in the sky"

Brett pinched his side, where Eddy was most ticklish, earning him a high-pitched shriek in return. "Serves you right, you madman. The hell did you think anyway, went out to the convenience store at four in the morning for some, what?- Oolong tea?? Such a lame excuse to get yourself in a car accident"

Eddy wheezed at the other's remarks, "I thought it might help you sober up" Yeah, right. There's no way he'd tell Brett that the real reason he went out and drove in his sleep-deprived state was that his mind decided to have a little emotional breakdown because his best friend, whom he occasionally fuck, was out to comfort another friend.

And to think that he used to feel jealous of Hyung! So embarrassing! He could remember the feeling of wanting to dive into a hole when Brett explained everything that happened with Hyung that night.

Brett frowned upon his friend's response. Every time he asked Eddy about why he went out that night, Eddy would lie about it. Well, he had his hunches, but Eddy wouldn't tell him, so he can't confirm.

Yes, Brett knew it when Eddy lied. Eddy would caress his thumb over his index finger in a calming manner every time he lied. But Brett won't tell him this.

"That's a lie" Brett challenged him.

"Nah, it was just that bro, come on. My papers aren't going to write themself." And again, Eddy gave him these half-assed answers, already ignoring Brett as he plunged into the research.

Brett sighed heavily- boy did he sigh a lot when Eddy is concerned.

"Alright, keep your secret, but don't expect me to deal with your mess for the second time" Brett started to work on Eddy's paper, mainly sorted the references.

And that's how Brett took care of Eddy, he would wheel him around the campus, help him change his bandages in the morning and afternoon, clean around the flat and all that stuff, and Eddy had started to feel guilty for it.

"You know, my house is like, 1 hour apart from here right? I can stay there" Eddy blurted when he found Brett arranging his laundry into his dresser one evening. His act of service was nice and all but, seriously, Eddy was a grown man! So he took the rest of the laundry into his hand, wanting to help.

Brett eyed the stack of clothes in the younger's lap, and then the closet. The racks in the closet were taller than what Eddy could reach from his wheelchair. "And your classes? You won't ask your mother to drive you back and forth every day." Brett replied calmly as he gathered the stack of clothes from Eddy's lap and put it inside.
