As soon as Brett's out of the room, he picked up the phone.
"Hey, what's up man?" Asked Brett.
"Nothing, I'm just.." Hyung sniffed, his voice sounded nasal to Brett. "Can you come to my place right now? I understand if you can't"
"Of course," Brett griped through his breath, already taking his jacket.
"Thanks a lot, mate" Hyung murmured to the phone.
"Anytime" Brett ended their call, collecting his things in advance.
Eddy just watched in silence as his best friends getting ready to flee for the night. "What happened?"
"It's Hyung, he's crying, I think something happened," Brett glanced at Eddy, "he asked me to come over to his place" Brett explained as he put on his shoes, with a hint of worry in his voice. Brett checked on his things one more time before leaving.
Eddy clicked his tongue, how very Brett to worry his friends like that. "Sure, text me if you need anything" Eddy handed over Brett's wallet. "And please let me know if anything bad happened, kay? Be safe."
"Yeah will do. Don't wait for me okay? Sleep first, I'll be back late. I think."
Bye! I'll let you know!" Brett shouted his farewell as he hopped in his car and drive to Hyung, leaving Eddy behind.
A quick glance at the clock told him that it was almost ten pm, Eddy knew that Brett wouldn't come home, staying at his friend's place, or at least he'd tried to not expect much.
Oh well, it was Brett we're talking about, he'd always been like that, always so ready to dive in headfirst into the situation when his friends are concerned, Eddy knows that from firsthand experience, had been pampered by Brett's kindness since he was thirteen.
Eddy shook his head, tried to shake away the nagging feeling that rose inside his chest.
He knew that Brett was free to spend the night with whoever he wanted.
But why was his heart flooded with jealousy?
Brett was not his. They've never been exclusive. He does not have the right to be jealous right now, never have. Not even for the sexual intimacy they shared. The status quo was still there because there are two people keeping it that way.
The clinginess and dependency on Brett were getting unhealthy. Eddy knew this, he didn't mean to be jealous, or sad about the whole ordeal too. He had never meant to be this attached to Brett.
But who could blame him for falling in love with his best friend?
Yes, he knew that Brett wanted to look for his soulmate, his mother had instilled those fairy tales since Brett was bare could walk, making him wondered ever since, he knew, he understands.
Eddy knew that and yet here he was, moping alone in his room, curling into a huge ball of negativity because his best friend had another friend to help when he wanted to cuddle. It was unsightly for him, but he couldn't help it.
His rational side knew that he needed to get a grip on his feelings and emotions. He needed to deal with it one way or another, he shouldn't anchor his happiness at Brett all the time, it's just... Wrong and selfish.
But stubborn as he was, Eddy waited. He waited for Brett to come in his way, even if it means that it would never happen.
At least he'd let me touch him.. Eddy coaxed himself to sleep,
but sleep didn't come for him that night.
So Eddy gets out of his room and tries to distract himself from all these feelings.
