"Oh, I know you will, Brett. It's just in case"

What did Belle mean by that? Brett had a feeling that the two Chens were plotting something behind his back, but he decided to give it a rest.

Now that Eddy's not with him, their flat seemed a lot more spacious than it was, an illusion that created an eerie sense of cleanliness he never felt when the other was around with him, it was almost overwhelming.

In other words, maybe he's a little bit lonely.

But anyway, Brett finally had some time to practice his music, might as well as be productive, right?

Get a damn grip, Yang! It's not even an hour had passed since Eddy's left, geez
Brett slapped both of his cheeks and practiced the rest of his evening.

Not that it was that productive, for his mind always wandered to the same person every several minutes or so.

After some hours, Brett decided to just lie down and scroll down on his social media instead. Looking for memes and funny video that maybe he could send to Eddy. So he did just that because they're random like that sometimes.

Not that he missed him or something, it was still too early for that.

Right?

----

"Do you really had to invite auntie Kim? She's nosy and annoying" Eddy stated absentmindedly, his index finger skimmed through the long list of wedding guests in his hand. So far, there are around five hundred people invited, being a family with huge relatives sure has its pros and cons.

And they said they wanted a small, intimate wedding.

Belle smacked her brother's skull with a folded piece of paper. "She's not one of the optional, you dumb-dumb." Belle yapped, secretly hoping that she could scratch off their nosy auntie herself.

Belle glared at the checklist of stuff they need to tackle for the week, mentally noting the things she could share with Paul, but being the one who hosted the wedding, their family must execute most of the chores.

"Do we really have to finish these all by the end of the week?" Eddy groaned as if he could read her mind. "Can't we just,- postponed our guest list until next month or something?"

Belle rolled her eyes at Eddy's childish demeanor, he sure had gotten spoiled a lot when he's living with Brett.

"Then go back to your lover if you're not gonna help me, you giant baby"

"Which one's most urgent, the wedding organizer, you said?" Eddy ignored Belle's commentary and straightened up his back to his assigned job. Mentioning Brett sure worked like a magic word to enslaves Eddy these days.

"You can't ignore him like this forever you know," Nelle chided. It was nice having Eddy around, he's witty and helpful even when being wheelchair-bound,- but mann, the pining was so damn long it's not even funny anymore. Everyone on the town knew that whenever Eddy has that forlorn look plastered to his face, he was thinking about one bespectacled man.

So much for being away.

Eddy glanced at his phone, there were two chat notifications he had noticed since last night, but he had not opened. (Probably wasn't important, maybe he sent him some memes or funny clips from the internet)

Of course, he knew, but it's only temporary, He kept saying to himself.

-------

It's official now, Eddy ignored him.

Took Brett a total of two days, ten consecutive texts, and three miscalls for Brett to finally accepted the fact.

Brett huffed as he plopped himself on the pillows on his bed, the whole setting feels a lot weirder without Eddy beside him. The fluffy pillows that Eddy hogged all the time suddenly felt too stuffy for Brett's taste, not to mention the cold spot next to him that had trickled into his being.

Being alone sucks. Especially if you got nothing to do.

The bespectacled lad jumped out of his bed, the night's still young, and so was he.

So Brett put the matter into his hands and called a friend.

"Hiya, Hyung. You free tonight?"

-----

Before Brett knew it, he was back at the perimeter of Hyung's dwelling.

This time, Brett didn't come empty-handed, he bought some food and booze to distract himself while he's there.

Just like before, Hyung opened the door almost instantly when Brett pushed the bell, he gave the smaller man a curt pat on the shoulder and half ushered Brett inside his house.

"Come in, oh, you bought dinner? You shouldn't have to, but, thank you. Let's eat first, then. I have some leftover chicken that might suit your menu" Hyung rambled cheerfully, seemed like his mood had much brightened since the last time.

Well.. It's been a while, almost a month since Hyung's confession and the whole car crash fiasco.

Brett shook off his thoughts, trying to be more present that he's there, "where are your parents? You're home alone again?"

"No, they're upstairs, but they're not yet asleep, though, so we must keep the volume down"  Hyung muttered to him.

The two musicians quickly finished their meal and retreat to Hyung's room. To Brett's surprise, Hyung got his fair share of video games and other entertainment in his chamber, he didn't seem like the type to play video games.

"So, smash bros?" Hyung asked.

"Sure"

They both played a few rounds before they got carried away and started to screeching like a pack of baboons every time something happened on the screen, the two grown-up boys didn't even realize that it was already past midnight.

Amid the heat of their game, Hyung's mom called. Brett listened in silence as the cellist got nagged via phonecall like a teenage boy, it was quite fascinating.

"She said we should tone down a bit, my dad got cranky"

Brett cringed, that sure brings back a lot of memories. "Oopsie, let's just stop then, I'm not sure if I can keep it down when I'm this close to the victory!" Brett made a small gesture with his fingers.

"You wished" Hyung laughed, but he turned off the screen anyway.

Brett closed his eyes and lied down on his back before he could stop himself from saying; "you know, I used to get owned by Eddy's mom for the same reason." Brett smiled at the memory, "but your parents are kind enough to reprimand you through phonecall, back then, we got whooped in person." Well, Eddy did, but Brett was there to witness the whole thing too. Oh, The trauma.

Hyung chuckled at Brett's story. "How old were you guys, back then?"

"I was around 15, he's 14"

"You guys knew each other for that long??"

"Even longer actually, but so so"

"That's so cool, how's he going by the way? Healing well?" Hyung prompted the other to continue, he could feel that Brett's been itching to talk about Eddy this whole evening. Maybe something happened between the two best friends.

"Yeah, he'll be in a wheelchair for months, but everything should be alright."

"Whoa, it's pretty bad, isn't it? And now he's alone at your place? Is it really okay?" Hyung implored.

"Well, about that.." Brett licked his lips, "I want to hear your thoughts about this..."

Hyung usually was not one to play relationship counselor, but for this couple that everyone shipped, he'd play along.
