"What do you think Price meant yesterday?" I question as Ghost and I finish getting ready. We had been given flame proof gear along with a few other things though I don't really know why.
"You saw his look today, Roach." Ghost glances over to me then back over his ACR. "Plus all this added gear..." He shakes his head then pulls the gun strap over his head. "Let's just get this over with. Archer, you and the others ready?" He looks over to the rest of our squadron.
"Yes sir. Ready when you are." Archer replies after he finishes putting some foliage on his Barrett.
Ghost nods then leads us to the chopper. He stops for only a second when we see Price and Soap. They have their own team heading to some plane graveyard in Afghanistan while we're going to a location in Georgia kinda by Russia. Price and Ghost seem to share some sort of silent conversation before he nods then gets on with the rest of us.
"What was that all about?" I ask as Ghost sits down.
"Just some things you missed after babying out." Ghost glances over to me. I can tell a small smiles starting to form.
"I didn't baby out. I knew my limit and I'd rather not of had a hangover today."
"How'd that work out?"
"Pretty well." I pull down my own balaclava just to stick my tongue out at him. The two of us chuckle lightly, the chopper soon taking off.
As we almost get to our drop-off point, Shepherd comes over comms.
"It's been a tough week, gentlemen. We've lost more than we ever dreamed." He takes a breath seeming to give us time to reflect. "But we will recover. I've got a blank check. And we're gonna use every cent of it killin' Makarov. Despite what the world may say, we are not savages, we don't kill civilians. We use precision. There's an evil man hiding in these shadows and we're gonna bring him into the light. Once his face is revealed, we will write history, gentlemen."
He stops for a bit. Everyone starts to look at each other, a light chatter forming again. Shepherd exchanges a few more words, soon speaking with Price. It's almost comforting to hear Price's voice.
"I didn't like Shepherds tone..." Ghost quietly says to me.
Before I can say anything Shepherd comes on comms again.
"We will cut off all avenues of escape. This ends now." He states.
"Strange," Price starts, "I coulda sworn we ended this war yesterday..."
Ghost sighs at Price's comment as the transmissions cut. He looks up to the men then stands.
"We'll be landing soon," The pilot comments.
"Perfect. Archer. Toad. Overwatch. I want the rest of you to keep it tight." Ghost commands. "Let's get this over with...."

"Snipers in position." Archer calls over comms.
"Strike team, lets go. Engage Makarov on sight." Ghost states starting to move us forward.
"Roger that," Scarecrow confirms.
"Solid copy." Ozone adds.
We quickly yet quietly walk through the light brush. Though something feels off. We all hear the sound of pins being pulled. My heart drops as bouncing Betties launch up to eye level.
"Everyone down!" I shout, dropping down to my stomach as fast as possible.
"Ambush!" Ghost yells about the same time as me. The others drop but a few of our men don't drop fast enough. We know they're dead. Ghost keeps shouting commands, telling us to call targets. I step up, calling targets and commands just as Ghost is.
