Chapter 14

When I got home, I was still sobbing. "Oh honey, what's wrong?" Charlie asked concerned. I dropped my bag and slouched my way over to the couch. I sat down next to her. Charlie wrapper her arms around me and wiped the tears off my cheeks. "Remember that little boy, Daniel, well he passed away" I explained through mouthfuls of sobs. "Oh no" Charlie gasped. She started to softly hum. She always did this when I was sad. She would wrap her arms around me, rock me back and forth like a baby, and hum the same song. When You Wish Upon A Star. "I can't imagine what his mom is going through right now" Charlie said to herself. "Me either" I breathed. I was still sobbing. Then, I felt like I couldn't breathe. "Oh no" Charlie said, realizing what was happening to me. "It's ok, it's ok, you're having a panic attack. Just breathe" she said soothingly. I tried my best to breath in and out normally. Until finally I could breathe again. "Thanks" I said when I finally had the breath to talk.

That night, Charlie just sat with me. We always did this when I was sad. She would sit on my bed until I calmed down or I fell asleep. And, just as I always did, I drifted off to sleep.
I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. I went into work the next day expecting Everett to be back.

Boy was I wrong.

I came into my dressing room to find a unhappy looking Penny. "Oh, hey Penny" I said surprised. "Didn't know you'd be in today" I said, trying to strike up a conversation. "Oh don't be so smug" she hissed. "What?" I asked confused. "I know you and Liam are dating. And I just wanna tell you that you better back off" she said, getting up in my face. "You like Liam!" I guessed in a sarcastically happy voice. "Yeah I do" she huffed. "Right, so because a girl who isn't my boyfriend's girlfriend told me to back off, that means I'm going to" I said in a know-it-all tone. "Whatever!" Penny huffed before stomping out of the room.

"Yeesh, what was up with her?" I though as I started to do my makeup. Once I was done getting ready, there was a knock on my door. "Hey darling" I heard Liam's voice say from the doorway. "See what I did there?" he asked with a smile. "Yes, yes I did" I nodded with a laugh. "I just got the strangest visit from Penny" I started. Liam's face went from happy to puzzled. "What happened?" he asked. "She told me to back off" I said. "Back off of what?" Liam asked. "You" I said blankly. His face turned to shock. "Looks like someone has a crush" he said with a smirk. "She's not the only one" I said before putting my lips on his.

There was a knock on the door.

"You two lovebirds ready to go?" Fiona asked from the doorway. "Yeah" I smiled, and we followed her to the Fantasy Land entrance. Fiona opened the door and Liam and I ran out together. After a full day of the same old routine, I went home.

"Hey" Charlie started. "Wanna go to Disneyland for dinner tonight?" she asked while we were watching tv. "Sure" I agreed. Within an hour we ready and out the door, headed to Disneyland.
"Where do you wanna go first?" I asked. We had some time before our reservation, so we decided to go do some rides. "I don't know" Charlie shrugged. We started to walk down Main Street. "I wanna get some sweets in the confectionery!" Charlie said, pulling me towards the sweets shop. "Charlie, we need to wait until after dinner" I laughed. She pouted like a little kid for a moment, but then gave in. We decided to go to Fantasy Land to ride Alice In Wonderland. After that we got in line to meet the princesses at Fairy Tale Hall.
"Who is your favorite princess?" Charlie asked. "Definitely Jasmine!" I replied. "Who's yours?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer. "You know who it is....." Charlie laughed. "Merida!" we both said together, although I said it more in an annoyed tone rather than happy like Charlie. "Favorite villain?" I asked. "Dr.Facilier from Princess and The Frog" Charlie said. "Oooh unique" I said. Charlie gave a proud nod. "Mine is probably either Mother Gothel, Cruella Deville, or Hades" I listed. "I can't decided" I admitted. "Favorite sidekick!" Charlie cheered. "Phil from Hercules" I said. "Mine is Pumba" Charlie replied.
Then, someone caught my eye. "Everett!" I said to myself. "Who?" Charlie asked, following my gaze. Her face immediately fell. "I'm gonna go talk to him" I announced. "Lily, is that really the best idea?" Charlie asked, grabbing my arm. "Yes Charlie. He's not sick, he's obviously avoiding me. And I'm gonna find out why" I said before breaking away from her grip. "Everett!" I yelled, chasing after him. He turned around to look at me, but immediately looked away. "Everett" I said again. I ran in front of him to make him stop. "Why are you avoiding me?" I asked. "I'm not avoiding you, I was sick" Everett lied. "Stop lying to me, Everett" I said. "I'm not lying!" Everett whisper yelled. "Yes, yes you are" I demanded. "You called out sick the day after I told you I started dating Liam" I explained. "You haven't been to work since then, Everett, you're my best friend....." I trailed off. "Don't tell Charlie I said that..." I whispered, looking over at her. Everett shook his head. "Everett you're my best friend! And I want you to tell me if I did something. I don't wanna loose you too" I said, tears starting to fill my eyes. "The death of Daniel, being away from my family, Penny is targeting me for some reason" I listed. "It's all overwhelming! And I don't know what I'd do if you weren't in my life" I said starting to cry. Everett places his hand on my face and willed away my tears.  "You haven't lost me.....I lost you" he said before walking away. I turned around to watch him walk away. Tears were still streaming down my face. I was so confused as to what just happened, but I didn't care. I walked back over to Charlie. She looked up from her phone to see me crying. "What happened?" she asked. "I...........I don't know" I admitted. "I don't know".
