HUNGER PAINS

sometimes i forget to eat

and i wake in the night

to the pains of hunger

and they beg me

to consume

to fill the void

to make it stop

but the emptiness only grows

until i can barely bare it

and it doesn't matter

if i drink poison

or swallow glass

so long as

my famished bones

cease to ache

but nothing satisfies

for i am insatiable

unquenchable

and so i curl in the darkness

abandoned to my state

until i return

to oblivion
