9. Merry Observations & Hard Truths

Year 11 High School

It was finally December and Yeosang was hosting a Christmas party. Out of all their friends everyone could agree that Yeosang threw the best parties. Yeosang had become quite the social butterfly.

His parties were always fun and well thought through, taking every attendee into consideration to ensure everyone had a good time. Yeosang loved to host these parties and all his friends loved to attend.

At this point Yeosang had met Mingi and everyone was just friends. Although Yeosang saw Mingi rarely, he was always there at Yunho's birthdays and sometimes Yunho would bring Mingi along to their movie outings, insisting Yeosang to bring Seonghwa too so it would be more fun.

Yeosang was happy that Mingi hadn't stolen Yunho away, he actually quite liked the boy after getting to know him, and he was glad that Yunho had someone there for him like he himself had Seonghwa. Or maybe he was just in denial because little did he know but Yunho and Mingi were extremely close these days, and telling himself that he had accepted Mingi was just a defence mechanism to blind him from what was actually happening.

Neverthe less when Yunho had asked whether Mingi could come to Yeosang's Christmas party he had said yes, there was no bad blood between them, the more the merrier.  

At this party Yunho had been very observant of Yeosang. Yunho had well and truly gotten over his feelings for the boy and he secretly hoped Yeosang and Seonghwa would date and make his Seongsang dreams come true, and after keeping a close watchful eye on the pair he came to the conclusion that maybe they already were and they just hadn't told anyone yet.

Yunho watched how Seonghwa would follow Yeosang around like a kitten chasing after a piece of string. He noticed how Seonghwa's face lit up when he looked at Yeosang and he hadn't missed the bashful smiles Yeosang would give back. Their behavior was flirtatious and Yunho was curious. 

Yeosang had been grabbing a drink in the kitchen when Yunho grabbed his wrist, dragging him into his room and sitting him down on the bed, Yunho propping himself next to him.

Yeosang was still easily flustered by Yunho and the simple touch of the others hand clutching his wrist had his blood pressure rising, and the anticipation of why Yunho had grabbed him had him giddy inside.

Yeosang wasn't sure what he was expecting but he certainly didn't expect Yunho to say his next words.

"Are you and Seonghwa dating?" Yunho asked confidently.

Yeosang's mouth went dry and he began to shake "whAT ? What made you think that?"

Yunho twiddled his thumbs and then looked into Yeosang's eyes "You guys just seem really close these days, I just thought maybe you were and hadn't told me yet" He shrugged.

Yeosang couldn't respond straight away he didn't know how. His relationship with Seonghwa was the same as it always had been (in his opinion) so what had Yunho seen? 

Yunho the boy Yeosang loved was asking whether he liked someone else and Yeosang had no idea what that meant, was Yunho jealous of his friendship with Seonghwa? Was he curious?

"We're not" Yeosang finally said. 

Yunho tilted his head, his brows furrowing and eyes narrowing, "You sure? Your lips say one thing but your eyes are giving me a completely different answer. You can't fool me Yeo"

"We're really not, there is nothing going on!!" Yeosang declared trying to defend and squash whatever thoughts Yunho was having.

"Do you like him though?" Yunho pressed.
