The boys walked into the dining room where everyone was sitting, and practically right on cue the lights went out making Seonghwa and Yeosang flinch as one of their friends walked out with Seonghwa's birthday cake, candles ablaze.

It was dark but Yeosang saw the smile spread across Seonghwa's face once again, and all of his thoughts about Yunho melted away. This afternoon was about Seonghwa not Yunho, and while it would have been a great opportunity for them to meet it was ok, that could happen another day, and Yeosang chose to ignore his pain and let himself be filled with Seonghwa's joy instead.

Everyone started to sing happy birthday and clapped as Yeosang walked Seonghwa to the cake that their friend placed on the dinning room table.

They reached the end of the song and Yeosang encouraged Seonghwa to blow out the candles and make a wish.

When the lights came back on someone handed a knife to Seonghwa telling him to cut the cake.

Everything was running smoothly. But then something happened, and honestly Yeosang should have seen what was coming when all of their friends took two huge steps away from Yeosang, the cake, Seonghwa and the knife he was holding.

Seonghwa hit the base of the plate with the knife with a loud metal clank, and right on cue everyone but Yeosang and Seonghwa erupted into a loud "oooOOOOOOH"

"What?" both boys said looking up, but otherwise frozen in place.

"Seonghwa hit the bottom" someone said pointing at the knife in Seonghwa's hand that was still wedged in the cake.

"And?" Yeosang questioned, not catching on.

"I can understand Seonghwa's confusion, but Yeo you know what it means when you hit the bottom of the cake plate"

"Do I?" Yeosang thought to himself. He looked at the cake Seonghwa and all the kooky expressions on their friends faces.

All of a sudden it clicked in Yeosang's mind and he went to take a step back, but then there were hands on his back pushing him forwards again.

"Guys I can't" Yeosang whined.

"But its tradition!!" they all hummed and chimed in unison.

"Sang I'm confused" Seonghwa said with furrowed brows looking down at Yeosang "What's tradition?".

Of course Seonghwa wouldn't know, he'd never had a birthday before, but Yeosang had faced this tradition practically every year, the tradition that stated you had to kiss the closest person to you if you hit the plate at the bottom of the cake. At first the tradition is cute, but as you get older it takes on a new meaning.

Yeosang looked around at the room as their friends began to chant "Do it!" over and over.

Seonghwa was so confused looking at Yeosang for clarification.

If it had been any other day prior Yeosang would have said hell no, his lips were saved for Yunho, but Yeosang was in a sour mood because of Yunho's photo. So with everyone cheering him on Yeosang grabbed an unaware Seonghwa's collar, pulled him down, locking their lips together and gaining hoots and hollars from party onlookers.

Although Yunho would never see the kiss, it was an act of vengeance, and just as quickly as it had happened it was over.

Yeosang heart was beating fast and Seonghwa's eyes were wide as an owls.

Yeosang smiled nervously not completly understanding the weight nor impact of what he'd just done "Birthday tradition" he said before grabbing the knife out of Seonghwa's hand "So who wants cake???" He said looking at everyone else.
