Their first high school school year was almost at its close when something happened that really shook Yeosang's heart and soul.

At this point, in Yeosang's heart, Yunho was like an impenetrable fortress and Seonghwa was merely a bird whom had built a little nest on the side. But that little bird was about to make a huge dent and begin to crumble the fortress from the outside in.

It was a week before Seonghwa's birthday.

Yeosang didn't even know the olders birthday was coming up, not until he'd spied the little birthday balloons and other celebratory doodles in the olders school diary, loosely decorated around his name in highlighter colours.

Yeosang was excited and asked Seonghwa what he would be doing, but Seonghwa had slammed his diary shut and said "I'm doing nothing" to which Yeosang's eyes widened in horror. Seonghwa then went on to tell Yeosang how he had never ever done anything for his birthday, sometimes his mum would buy him a cupcake with a singular candle and his parents would sing him happy birthday, but that was it.

Seonghwa had brushed off the whole thing telling Yeosang not to worry, he's used to it. Yeosang had brushed it off too . . .but only to Seonghwa's face.

In his mind the moment Seonghwa had told him he was doing nothing he had begun planning a birthday party.

In secret Yeosang pulled their little friendship group together and they pooled their pocket money to buy balloons and cake, and most importantly presents.

Yeosang organised for the surprise party to be held at his own house and he had even invited Yunho along so the pair could finally meet. Yeosang didn't realise it himself but Seonghwa was becoming very important to him and unconsciously he wanted both the important people in his life to meet.

It was Saturday afternoon, the day of Seonghwa's birthday and Yeosang had invited Seonghwa over saying that he simply had cake and wanted to celebrate Seonghwa's birthday too.

Seonghwa didn't like the idea at first but he eventually accepted it after Yeosang's relentless pestering and coaxing throughout the school week.

It's no surprise that when Seonghwa, dressed casually in a cute blue white and pink stripy top and a white skivy underneath, arrived to Yeosang's house that he had had a mini heart attack.

All their friends had shot out of their hiding places in Yeosang's lounge with party poppers and confetti, and showered Seonghwa with well wishes.

Seonghwa had cried, and at first Yeosang was terrified he'd fucked up, but then Seonghwa was hugging him and everyone else who was there, he even hugged Yeosang's mother whom had happily cooked a birthday feast for her son's friend.

Seonghwa was grateful and happy and like he always did he thanked Yeosang with a waterfall of 'thank yous'.

Yeosang, Seonghwa and all of their friends had sat in a circle in the lounge and one by one handed the older a gift and card. Seonghwa's jaw was practically on the floor when he saw that he actually had presents for the first time in his life.

He simply couldn't believe his eyes when he'd open each gift, full of clothes he liked, plushies from his favourite game Angry Birds, a journal covered in cute stars, stationary. The older was seriously in awe.

When Seonghwa saw Yeosang's gift though, Yeosang knew he'd done well.

Yeosang had made Seonghwa a card and drawn pictures of all his favourite things, he'd framed a picture of himself and Seonghwa and stuck it in a cool frame, and maybe it was a little bit of a cheat present, but Yeosang also gave Seonghwa a phone.

Yeosang was sick of seeing Seonghwa use his old Nokia and become all mellow and sad each time he realised he couldn't take cool pictures like his friends.

Seonghwa loved to play angry birds on Yeosang's phone, so Yeosang had decided to give it to just give it to him. The phone was still in good condition, Yeosang just wanted to upgrade, and he figured why not give it to Seonghwa, someone who wants and needs it rather than throw it in the bin?

Seonghwa squealed and tackle hugged Yeosang, and he was sure Seonghwa probably would have continued to cling on if it weren't for someone else handing him yet another present.

Afterwards Seonghwa turned into a little kid as he played with the balloons Yeosang and their friends had blown up all in Seonghwa's favourite colour aqua as instructed by Yeosang's and he stuffed his face with food like a squirrel and bounced along to the playlist Yeosang had set up with all of Seonghwa's favourite songs.

All this was fine and dandy for Yeosang; Yeosang felt warm and happy inside at seeing Seonghwa smile and knowing that he had done something good, but Yunho whom he had invited hadn't shown up and that made Yeosang sad.

Although Yunho and Yeosang's friendship now was a bit different since they were at different high schools they were still as close as ever which is why it surprised Yeosang when Yunho didn't show up.

At first Yeosang had thought that maybe Yunho was just late, and he didn't even bat an eyelash when he hadn't received a text or anything.

The party was midway now and while everyone sat around eating pizza and party food Yeosang had pulled out his phone to send a message to Yunho to see where he was and if he was still coming.

He didn't know why he did it, but instead of going straight to his message box he got distracted in a little notification badge on his facebook app.

Yeosang flicked to facebook, clicking on the little notification curious as to what it was since the notif said it was only posted half an hour ago and was posted by Yunho. When Yeosang saw the post though his heart sank.

It was a photo, and in the photo was a selfie of Yunho and a boy called Song Mingi.

Yeosang had heard of Mingi before, just like Yunho had heard of Seonghwa. Yeosang knew that Yunho and the boy had become friends, they were guaranteed to make other friends at their new schools, it was bound to happen.

But what hurt most about seeing this picture was not only the close position the boys were in but also the caption that went with it.

In the photo Yunho stood behind Mingi, one arm draped over Mingi's chest the other holding the phone; to put it simply, a back hug. Mingi with both his hands was holding Yunho's arm and he was smiling, showing his teeth, and his eyes cute crescents. Yunho's cheek was pressed against Mingi's and he too wore a smile that melted Yeosang's heart.
The caption read:

My best friend Mingi, love you bro :)

Not only had Yunho called Mingi his best friend, a position Yeosang thought he'd be the only one to hold, but he had also said 'love you bro' it could be considered a friendly quip to some but for Yeosang it was like a baseball bat to the face, a kick to the balls, a knife to the heart.

Yunho had said 'love' and he had said 'bro'.

Yeosang not once had ever heard Yunho call him bro nor had Yunho ever made a post saying that they were best friends and that he loved him.

It would appear Yunho skipped out on Yeosang, and failed to even bother to tell Yeosang he wasn't coming, his new best friend clearly more important.

Yeosang wanted to yeet his phone out the window and cry.

But his new phone was precious, so instead he decided to do what any logical teenager in that situation would do. He got up, left the main hub of the party and went straight to the bathroom to go cry.

A/n I think it's time for a group hug (。•́︿•̀。)
