My fourth period passed by fast and soon I was sat at a table in the cafeteria, a tray of fries and ketchup in front of me and Clover blabbing away right next to me.
"Dani? Are you even listening to me?" She asked.
"No, Clo, I don't listen to friends who ditch me like you did" I replied. Petty? I know.
"Come on Dani, I didn't want to feel like a third wheel" she said.
"What 'wheel' do you think I felt like when Thomas came over, huh? And how dare you hide something as big as his British accent from me" I complained.
"What, I didn't think it mattered" she explained.
"Now that's just an excuse. Everybody knows that if a guy has a British accent, that detail matters!" I replied pointing at her.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. Forgive me?" She apologized.
"Pay for my lunch and I'll think about it" I replied, a sly smile on my face.
"Deal!" She said and continued with her lunch.
"So is he British?" I asked some seconds later.
"Nope, he lived in England since he was 3, but then he moved back to NY like a year ago, so I guess you can say he's a citizen now" she shrugged.
"Oh, okay" I replied and we proceeded to talk about random things.
Just when I thought the drama I'd had for that day was enough, Steve and two of his friends walked over to our table.
"Oh look, it's my brother's whore and her friendsie" he drawls in a menacing voice. Friendsie? Who even says that?
"What do you want Steve?" I asked bored.
"For you to never show your face at my house again, that's what" he replied.
"Then, you're in luck cause I'd be showing my face at your house next Tuesday" I informed him.
"Don't you dare come" he threatened.
"Why?" I asked pointedly "Is there anything you're hiding that my presence could threaten?"
At first he looked confused and then his eyes widened. "Damn that Blake" he muttered.
"See you next week!" I said, a smug smile on my face as he glared at me and stormed off.
"Whoa, he really must care about his secret so much, cause that actually shut him up and that's saying something because nobody shuts Steve up." Clover commented, an amused smile on her face.
"That serves him right. It's about time he's put in the naughty corner" I said, making her laugh.
Once again, the rest of the day went by fast and soon I was in my mom's car, but something wasn't right.
"Are you okay mom?" I asked, noticing she wasn't in a good mood.
"Yeah I'm fine, it's nothing honey" she replied, focusing on her driving. She didn't even ask how my day went now I was sure something was up.
"Mom, I know something is wrong. Tell me, what is it?" I asked, concerned now.
"Your dad called" she started and my heart dropped. This was really familiar. My dad called almost everytime but whenever his call put her in such a mood, I knew it won't be long before we had to leave again.
"They've found us haven't they?" I replied, my voice low.
"No, but your father said they're on the move so they probably have information or something" she replied "the split might delay them a little but they're not one to give up"
