Daniella's POV

"Daniella?" I heard a faint voice call my name but I couldn't reply, it felt like I was frozen. The voice kept calling and each time, the voice got louder until I finally forced my eyes open.

The bright light in the white room made it impossible to open my eyes fully, but I could see well enough to know that I was in a totally foreign place. It smelt like a mixture of baby powder, air freshener and wait, drugs? Am I at the hospital?

"Daniella!" The voice which I now recognized to be Clover's called, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Clover?" I murmured as a bitter taste settled at the back of my throat.

"Yes Dani, it's me and you're fine now" she replied. Her voice sounded hoarse, like she had been crying. My eyes finally adjusted to the bright light and I opened my eyes wider.

Clover was sat right next to me on the hospital bed and she was the only one in the room. I sat up with help from her and I looked around confused.

"Am I at the hospital?" I asked her.

"Yeah"

"Why?" I asked, taking my hands up to massage my temples which hurt badly.

"Don't you remember anything?" She asked, looking at me with a concerned look on her face.

"Uh...I remember that I was at a restaurant with André and then you came over and then Blake...." I started to recall and then at the mention of Blake's name, it all came rushing back to me. Blake had come to the restaurant where we were at and he dragged André out, like he had stolen something. He also said something about not trusting him and that's the last I could remember but now I was at the hospital?

"What happened to Blake? Why was he treating André like a thief?" I asked her.

"Trust me, Blake should've done worse" she spat, disdain evident in her eyes.

"Why? What did he do?" I asked, frustrated now.

"He actually tried to kill you Dani!" She exclaimed.

"What?! Why would he do that?!" I exclaimed as well, but maybe I shouldn't have done that because now, my head hurt even more.

"You need to rest now Dani, I'll tell you everything later" Clover said, noticing the pain I was in.

"No, tell me now" I replied stubbornly.

"I really don't know myself" she started and then proceeded to tell me everything up until I fell unconscious.

"What happened after I fell unconscious?" I pressed.

"Well, after you fell unconscious though, Blake confronted André who confessed to poisoning you but that you would die slowly because half of the dose was in the drink while the other half was in your meal. Then Blake rushed you to the hospital and luckily, they had the antidote for the poison and they were able to stop it from affecting major organs" she explained as I stared dumbfounded and confused but the words that came out of her mouth next cleared my misunderstanding.

"He said something about André being very dangerous and probably having a gun on him and later when I asked him why André tried to poison you, he said you would be the one to tell me. So tell me why would André try to poison you? Who is he and what are you hiding?" she finished and I felt like I was going to have a panic attack.

The only people I knew would want to harm me were the Vipers and if André was a Viper, then that means that we've been found. Oh shit. Shit. Shit.

"Daniella, tell me, what is it?" She asked again.

"Clover" I started in a dead serious tone "After I tell you this, you might want to keep your distance but still, I think you deserve to know the truth"

"Come on, you're making me anxious now" she said.

"Okay so, I moved here from Las Vegas, well, from Minnesota actually which makes this my fourth move in two years" I started and delved into everything that happened, including the fact that I now possessed the chip that the Vipers were after.

"Oh my God!" she exclaimed, standing up from my bed and pacing around the room. "So you mean to tell me that you and your family are on the run from a very dangerous mafia group because you happen to posses something of utmost importance to them and that I, your supposed best friend is only just finding out about it, right after you were just poisoned?"

"I'm sorry, I know I should've told you, but I didn't know how you'd react. I thought you'd want to stay away from me because I literally screamed trouble" I apologised but she was pissed, I had never seen her this angry.

"Oh my God Dani, I can't with you right now. Why would you think that? Do you know how I felt after hearing that you had been poisoned? How it felt seeing you lying there unconscious as you turned white?" She questioned, the anger in her eyes still very evident. I could tell she felt betrayed and that made me feel worse.

"I'm really sorry Clover, I just didn't want to lose one of the few friends I got after so many months of loneliness" I pleaded, trying to persuade her to see things from my point of view.

"Didn't want to lose your few friends? What about Blake? What made you confide in him and not me?" She questioned "Aren't you scared of losing him?"

"I didn't tell him, I swear, I don't even know how he found out" I said and just as the words left my mouth, I realized how he must have found out. Of course he overheard my mum and I talking and probably also my secret conversation with my dad. Why did he pretend not to though? That question confused me, he could've confronted me there and then about lying, but he didn't.

"Hello, earth to Dani, angry best friend here" she called. She was suddenly in front of me, waving her hands in front of my face.

"Oh sorry sorry. As I was saying, I didn't tell Blake about it, he just kind of found out. Please forgive me Clo" I pleaded again as she went back to pacing.

After several minutes of silence with Clover still pacing, processing things and me staring at her, she finally decided to forgive me......well, after she made me swear to involve her in anything and everything concerning the Vipers from then on of course.

"So, how do you feel?" She asked taking a seat on the edge of my bed.

"Well for starters, I feel like shit, my mouth tastes bitter and my head hurts" I replied and just then my phone chimed, indicating that I just got a text.

"Hold on" Clover said, stopping me from reaching for my phone and helping me with it.

"Thanks" I replied with a smile as she handed it over. I looked to see that it was a text from André. Why the heck would he still be texting me after what he had done? Curiosity got the best of me and I opened the message and started to read. At first I was confused but after the first three lines, the confusion was replaced with utter and complete shock.

I couldn't believe what I was reading, as a matter of fact, I didn't want to. No, no, this can't be happening. Clover seemed to notice the distress on my face because she asked me what happened. Too shocked to speak, I just kept looking at her. At that, she snatched the phone from me to see what had rendered me so speechless.

"Dear Daniella, or should I say Reina" she read out "I know that you must have heard the truth about me by now, so I'd also like to expose one person, and that's your lover boy, Blake. You might not believe what I'm about to say, but I'm going to anyways. So, big news, Harper is and always will be a Viper. As a matter of fact  he's a well respected one at that, his parents were the bosses and he took over after their death. He's the leader of the gang after you and your family" at this, she gasped and then continued "Who knows, he probably only became your friend to get some information, I mean that explains how I found you right? I advise you watch your back, oh and have a nice life with Harper"

Hey guys! Phew! Having some trouble writing out this scene and the one after because of my busy schedule and I'm kind of experiencing writer's block 😔.
