We sent this lovely winner ten questions, and these were their answers. If you think more questions should have been asked, comment your question and we will consider adding it. Thank you very much.
Rita_writes won first place in 'The Discovering Elites Award' in the Summer of 2020. Their story Murder on Christmas Eve! A story that from the title makes you want to read it.
Let's see what she says about these questions.
When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
Right from the time I was in primary school, at the age of nine, I wrote short princess stories at the back of my notebook.
When did you write your first book?
That would be July 17, 2018. As soon as I joined 'WhatsApp', I wrote my first book which has been deleted though.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love eating, sleeping, and then reading books when I am not doing that, then it's movie time.
What does your family and friends think of your writing?
Well, they support me. When I was little and beg my friends to read my books, I stopped when I joined Wattpad. My parents and siblings support my writing.
What inspired you to write the winning book?
The idea behind the winning book was gotten from the previous one which is now unpublished, and I didn't plan the plot, just wrote as ideas came. After someone had given a review, called it a weak plot. I deleted it and started this one *lol* that reviews were what pushed me.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Movies, everyday experience, and sometimes from the books I read. At times I just sit and get hit with a story idea, and I just have to start writing.
How many books have you written? What is your favorite?
I have written three books, I can't really decide. I love all my stories equally *lol* just kidding. This should be my favorite so far, there are more to come through.
What has been your favorite comment on your story?
OK, wow! I have many, but someone once told me she was fan crushing on me because of my book, which really made my day.
What do you think makes a great story?
A good plot, every writer should plan their plot well, and every story should have a goal. A book without a goal is a driver without a destination, your readers, or in this case, passengers will get lost and confused. Great stories should always have a hook, to trap their readers in.
Who is your favorite character you have written?
I have two *lolz* Simon from 'He Made Me Gay' and Micheal from 'Murder on Christmas Eve'
