I felt someones hand slip into mine as I stopped and turned a dark shade of red.

"You are gorgeous, don't worry about anything Allie." I heard Tyler's voice in my ear as he lead me down the staircase. "I've got you, don't worry. I love you." As he whispered in my ear, my whole body got goosebumps, and for some reason I really wanted him.

He lead me into a huge ballroom, never letting go of my hand, and walked past all of the people to the back of the room. We walked up to a door that had two huge guards and I was shaking again.

"Name." The guard on the left was at least 6' 8'', and his voice was very deep.

"Tyler and his girlfriend Allie." A little boy came out of the crowd and stood in front of the guard who had talked to me and Tyler, and stood in front of him with his hands on his hips and stared the guard down. "Trust me. They're on the list Bryce."

"Yes sir." The guard, Bryce, looked like he was puppy getting hit with a rolled-up newspaper. I tried not to giggle as the guard on the right opened the door and the little boy took my hand and lead me into a little room with sofas and a beautiful chandelier.

"Tyler?!" A voice came from the sofa facing away from the door.

"Luke?" Tyler let go of my hand and jumped over the sofa. "What the hell are you doing!" Tyler was laughing and my hand was suddenly cold.

"Hiding. There's some crazy people in there.. You have no idea.." Luke stood up and Tyler and Luke did the handshake that they used to do in 6th grade.

"You aren't going to guess who I brought as my date..." Tyler was blushing a little, and Luke realized my presence and gasped.

"A.. A.. A.. Hi."

I smiled when I realized I was blushing, and I felt very awkward.

"Hi." It was a very small 'hi', but Luke smiled even bigger. Tyler walked around the couch to me and grabbed my hand again. My hand was happy with it's companion holding it, and my heart sped up a little just because Tyler was so close.

"Are you two... oooOOOooo. Tylerrrr. You bast-"

"Ahem" Tyler had a slight smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Allie, why don't you go out and see if you can find some people you know? I think I saw that girl that always tried to be your friend.. but you never wanted to be her friend." He had his 'please do this' look on, and so I sighed as he kissed me on the cheek before I turned around and walked out to door back into the huge sea of people.

As I closed the door behind me, I looked up, and as my eyes scanned the room, my brain started to register names with peoples faces. 'Rush.. 10th grade, Emily... my grade, Derrik... my grade..'

"Allie." My head snapped to the right. A girl in shorts and a tank top was smiling at me. "I'm Mia... Do you remember me?"

"Yeah. I think so.. " This was the girl that had tried to befriend me in 4th grade, and I decided that I would give her a chance. "I mean.. yes. Hi Mia." I smiled, and she smiled a very friendly smile back.

"Have you been here long? The party started an hour ago, and I always make it a thing to make at least one new friend. But.. I've met you before. In fourth grade.. you were the prettiest girl in school, but you were always hanging around with that Tyler kid. I thought we were going to be great friends then and there.. but you retreated like a little kitten runs from a snake."

I laughed. "Sorry.. I'm kind of shy."

"Well, that's no way to live. Here, let's practice being bold." She grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the drink bar.
