"Is something wrong, Your Highness?" Mason asked.
"No, everything is fine." I lied,
"So, uh, any suggestions for how to return you to your rightful home?"
"Oh, uhhhhhh..." I tried to come up with something quickly.
"Me neither." he shook his head in despair.
"But I might know someone who does." he finally added after a moment of silence.
♛
"Here, watch your step. Sorry if the cloak is too long." Mason apologized.
"No, it's okay, that's just me being clumsy."
Mason led me to a dark alley, filled with vibrant art.
"Okay, stay here, there's a small dagger in the right pocket, just in case somebody... Y'know-"
"Yeah, I know." I smiled at Mason's thoughtfulness.
He grinned back at me... Just like Ace.
He wandered to the back of the alleyway and entered a door that had been hidden by the darkness until I saw him enter it.
I waited for about five minutes; when he came walking out with a familiar man. Did I know him?
I squirm, trying to recognize him.
"Hello Your Highness," he bowed "I'm Hugh Rodriguez, father of Celia Rodriguez. Might you know her?" he winked at me. "I'm also a good friend of Mason here, I've helped him in many life-threatening situations!"
Two can play at that game.
But still, I'm in a shitty situation.
I can't say that the Rodriguez family was who I had been running from, why would Mason take a stranger who he'd helped's word over a good friend who'd helped him many times?! But then again, I wasn't exactly a stranger.
I decided to lie low. Pretend like I didn't know him.
"Please, rise." he rises. "It's an honour to meet you, Mr. Rodriguez. I'm guessing you're the someone that Mason said could do return me to my rightful home?"
"Yes, I believe that's me!"
"Great. I'm so glad you can help me escape the wretched man and his family who tried to kidnap me."
I smiled.
Game on, Hugh.
;w;
Hewo there.
