Ace and I talked for a while, then I realized that Mother was probably done her charity work.
I bid farewell to Ace after we rode back the castle, he took Cloud and Nexus to the stable, while I headed the opposite direction, to Mother's suite.
I knocked, one of Mother's maids opened the door,
"Your Royal Highness!" she bowed.
"Hello there, is my mother in her room?" I asked.
"Yes, Her Majesty is doing some paperwork right now."
"Okay, thank you..." I read her name tag, "Lise."
"Y-you're welcome Your Royal Highness!"
Lise scurried back into the queen's suite, probably informing Mother that I was here.
I walked into the marvellous suite. The suite mainly consisted of marble, including the Corinthian columns. Because of this, it had a very ancient Greek feel to it.
I found Mother at her desk.
"Mother?"
"Yes, darling?"
"May I ask you a question?"
"Of course, what is it?"
"If Conner is to marry soon, does that mean that I shall soon as well?"
"Of course, darling! In fact, we'll be doing what we shall be doing with Conner with you as well!"
"So, mine will also occur on my seventeenth birthday?"
"No, for female royalty, it's their eighteenth birthday."
That was confusing...
"What if they want to marry earlier?"
"They're not allowed."
WHAT?!
"So female royalty is only allowed to marry at eighteen?! That's bullshit!" I exclaimed.
"Language darling, and yes, female royalty are only allowed to marry at eighteen and older.
I stared at her.
"Now darling, don't be angry with me, I didn't create this law." she added.
"How come I never learned of this when I was younger?" I asked.
"You were supposed to learn it this year."
"Oh, okay. Thank you for your time mother."
"You're very welcome."
I left the marble suite, having a feeling of inequality.
It wasn't that I wanted to marry, it was the opposite. I simply wanted the throne to change the unfair laws. I wanted to bring happiness to the citizens of Canamaria.
But it was a known rule, that you had to be married to become the queen or king, and if I was only to marry at eighteen, I would be too late to stop Conner, since he's having his birthday ball very soon.
I needed to delay Conner.
But how would I do that?
